Four actresses from The CW’s The Vampire Diaries were charged with disorderly conduct for hanging off a bridge and allegedly flashing motorists during an Aug. 22 promotional photo shoot in Forsyth, Ga., a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman confirmed to EW.
According to police documents, two deputies arrived at the Rumble Road Bridge in Forsyth after receiving numerous calls about “females hanging from the bridge.” The officers encountered the four Vampire Diaries actresses — Candice Accola, Sara Canning, Nina Dobrev, and Kayla Ewell — as well as photographer Tyler Shields and actress Krystal Vayda (who doesn’t appear in Vampire Diaries). One of the officers checked Shields’ camera and found “numerous photographs of the females hanging, sitting, and straddling the bridge,” according to the report. One photo even displayed a “female being held by her legs by the other females, as if they were trying to throw her over.”
The six individuals were taken into custody, paid a fine to a bonding company, and were released the same day, according to a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman. A network rep for The Vampire Diaries had no comment.
The show, which shoots in Georgia, premiered last night to strong ratings.

That is wild!!
Hilarious. So fun to be a girl.
And yet, if the cast of Supernatural had done this, it would have been funny because they’re just dudes being stupid, and that’s perfectly normal. Yaaay sexism/misogyny.
In response to “yup”…it definitely would not have been funny if the cast of any show would have done it. Come on. Seriously.
I was writing in response to another poster — who has since beeen deleted by administration — who called girls in question some really ugly names that would not have been applied to dudes (a long string of words related to “slut.”) Sorry for the confusion — I agree that it wouldn’t have been funny.
So … RFLMAO .. sorry had to laught for a second. What were you guys saying about Twilight and True Blood again? Cuz I don’t recall them doing something so pathetic and juvenile. LOL
remember these are young girls. The photographer should be the one in trouble, IMO. Why would he encourage this behaviour – its so dangerous and stupid. Youth can explain bad judgement but whats his excuse?
Young girls? They’re over 18 and I believe in their 20s! They are just as responsible. And hanging off a bridge??? I’m in my 20s and no how would I find that amusing with cars zooming by underneath. And no way would I have found that amusing if I was someone driving under that bridge thinking WTH????? Real mature, ladies.
Agree with Javz..
and straddling the bridge, um okay.
this reeks of publicity stunt to me (to help the show get more viewers)
Your ignorance is why double standards exist Heidi. They simply play teenagers on television. You might like to know: Scooby Doo isn’t voiced by a dog and Bart Simpson isn’t voiced by a man. In my opinion, the actresses and photographer, deserve to rot in prison for life. LIFE!
These actresses deserve to be hobbled. Put the 17 year-old in foster care, this is preposterous. I’m glad they were arrested for NOT causing an accident, they deserve to be in prison.
I’m sure the network is LOVING (not) that this makes the news after the show had such a great premiere for them.
Especially since one of the girls allegedly flashing on the bridge is only 17 years old.
^^ all 4 of the girls that where they are over 20
If you check out the arrest report and mugshots at thesmokinggun.com you will see that one of the girls is only 17.
I don’t think so, Chappel – check smokinggun again. Looks like the youngest was born in 1989, making her 20. The others are 22, 22, 24, 25, and the guy is 27.
Quite the news day for the show. That can’t be too bad.
wow. they’re immature.
and heidi, maybe the girls wanted him to take a picture of them. maybe he was a friend of one of the girls. we don’t really know that part of the story.
Yes I am an older viewer, and yes I wasn’t happy about the underage drinking and drugs on the show. I was willing to give it a chance. Now this a few hours later. Nice, perfect role models for young teens their target audience. The network should be real proud.
There are a handfull of shows directed towards young teens in which their is alcohol and drugs involved. Also, the actors/actresses are following their script. If they do drugs on the show, it doesnt necessarily mean that they are doing it off the show, so why should they be named bad role models? The only reason given would be the stunt they pulled on the bridge, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the characters they portray on the show. Key word, characters. Loads of actors/actresses have played the role of alcoholics or drug-addicts, but it never meant they were bad role models. I think you are taking this bad move on these actresses part (well, they may see it as having fun, as will others) and judging the show because of it.
While I don’t approve of kids taking drugs and drinking irresponsibly, I also don’t think it’s fair to expect actors to be role models for your children. It is not their responsibility to raise your children. As for the party scenes, I think it’s safe to assume kids in everyday America would drink, etc even without the influence of television. Were these girls thinking rationally? No. Is it a huge crisis? No. They are young and, technically, weren’t harming anyone. It’s not the most mature decision to flash other people or to fool around on a bridge, but it’s also not the end of the world. They are kids, yes they’re in their early 20s, but that’s still very young and therefore won’t always make very good decisions. I’m almost 30 and cannot claim perfection. Also, the network cannot control what it’s stars do in their own time or away from the show itself. I would chalk this up to youthful indiscretion and hope the girls learn to be more careful in the future.
omg get the hell over it…it was a photo shot on a bridge that they where having fun at…i very much doubt the girl flashed anyone and it was just people going overboard on the 911 calls
sure they might have cause some distracted drivers but they werent out there doing drugs and drinking get over it people and grow up
Yeah, I might agree with you if I hadn’t been involved in a major traffic jam after some guy went a little too far in the hanging off a bridge over the highway thing. Distracted my left foot.
Val- You definitely shouldn’t watch Gossip Girl then b/c the party depicted in Vampire Diaries was mild compared to the bar hopping, partying on GG. In NO WAY do I condone underage drinking but unfortunately it happens everyday. I do think it was odd that the paramedics & police showed up (for the attacked girl) yet the drinking was still going on & the authorities didn’t address it. There are MANY racy teen shows- especially Degrassi (Nickelodeon) which the lead female starred on prior to VD.
Not a smart move when your show is just one week out of the gates.
I actually want to see the show now. These chicks sound bad ass. It’s like the actresses from Tarantion’s portion of Grindhouse actually exist. This is only positive, especially after their fine ass mugshots.
WHAT DUMB******! I guess that what you et when you have too much money and too much time on your hands. These will eb the same girls you’ll see like LIndsay, Britney and Paris….atleast Nicole cleaned up her act! Stoopid Girls!
The only word I can think of for this is ridiculous. The actresses are adults and the photographer a professional. I’ve always thought Forsyth was a backwoods throwback to another century. This only confirms it. No charges should have been filed period.
This definitely brings positive press to the show, after all everyone loves wild rebellious girls who get arrested.
They “allegedly” flashed motorists. Many of you need to look up that word so you can unbunch your panties. And please, lighen the ef up.
