The mania for Susan Boyle continues: The Britain’s Got Talent diva recently announced the Nov. 24 release of her much-anticipated album I Dreamed a Dream and, as of this morning, it already holds the No. 1 spot on Amazon.com’s best-sellers list, above Whitney Houston’s I Look to You (No. 2) and the Beatles’ forthcoming remastered Abbey Road (No. 3). Boyle became an overnight sensation in April after her audition on Britain’s Got Talent, which found her singing “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables, brought the audience to their feet. Although Boyle ultimately didn’t win the competition, the resulting video of her original audition went viral on YouTube and made her a worldwide superstar.

I’m happy for her.
I still don’t think her voice warrants this much of a reaction.
Well then obviously, there is much mush more to Ms Boyle than just her voice. To quote one of her biggest fans “We love her for who she is as well as what she does.”
It just blows my mind that people listen to this kind of music. Sure, she has a terrific voice, but that kind of music is just so God-awful. I think Susan’s 15 minutes are just about up.
Seriously? “This kind of music”. Just because you might not like musicals doesn’t negate the genre. Personally I don’t like hip hop or rap so guess what? I don’t listen to it or buy it. Feel free to do the same here but don’t presume that just because you don’t like – I hate to say – show tunes – doesn’t mean other people have to fall in step behind you.

Obviously there are millions of people that do enjoy her very much. it’s a fact, so get over it.
I don’t think it negates any of Susan Boyle’s success for me to admit that I am totally baffled by it.

To those who are saying they won’t buy it because it’s show tunes – Simon Cowell already said there are only a couple of show tunes on the CD. It’s pop, some ballads, jazz and theatrical. He said folks would be surprised by what’s on it.

I’ve ordered 10 copies of Susan’s debut album. I can hardly wait for it. Her voice is incredible. She has an indomitable spirit and a charming personality. I love everything about Susan Boyle.
