YouTube considering adding movie rentals to site

Tags: ,

YouTube is reportedly in negotiations with three Hollywood studios — Warner Bros., Sony, and Lionsgate Entertainment — about the possibility of adding a fee-based rental service to the video website, according to The New York Times. The service, if approved, would allow YouTube users to stream the studios’ recently released movies for a certain price, thereby marking the first time YouTube has charged its users for content. Similar movie-streaming services are currently offered by Amazon, Netflix, and Apple.
