Separate to the big Marvel-Disney news, Fox is still committed to overhauling one of its Marvel franchises, Fantastic Four. Variety reports that Akiva Goldsman is now overseeing the next project as producer. Green Lantern writer and Heroes co-executive producer Michael Green will write the script. The third film will follow 2005′s Fantastic Four and 2007′s Rise of the Silver Surfer; it’s not yet known if any of the cast members from those two will return.

Wouldn’t mind if they scrapped the whole cast save for one: Chris Evans. He played the heck outta Johnny Storm and remembered to tell his face. He actually looked like he was having fun. And they can do amazing “Things” with CGI these days. Chiklis’ voice talent is adequate, but that rubber suit doesn’t cut it.
I agree wholeheartedly, they need to get Chris Evans back – he was perfect for the role. Everyone else is collateral damage, even the great Chikless who seemed almost overwhelmed having to actually play the role under 70 lbs of make-up and suit.
I wouldn’t mind keeping the whole cast minus Dr. Doom. He seemed so awkward in the last film; just cut him free. The Fantastic Four have plenty of great stories without Doom.
I hope that this one focuses on the Inhumans, with the themes of freaks and family. Seeing Namor on celluloid wouldn’t suck, either.
it could be done with the same cast, i think–under new direction and producers a new tone could be taken, making the entire thing seem much more serious. another stiupulation–changing jessica albas hair back to the color it was in the first movie. looking at her in the second movie was an absolute joke. i got that they were trying to stick to the blonde-blue eyed invisible girl, but really? no thanks. you cast someone who is neither blonde, nor blue eyed and the whole world knows it. who are you trying to fool?
Thank you! I couldn’t take Jessica Alba seriously, looking at that awful hair. It seriously might have ruined my enjoyment of the whole movie, because I remember it as being a sucky movie but I can’t really remember why, other than I hated what they did with Jessica Alba.
I’m okay with keeping the cast(especially Chris Evans) and I agree completely about J. Alba’s ‘look’ being such a distraction in the 2nd movie. The hair didn’t bother me as much as the excessive eye makeup.
Yeah, this series needs to be retooled. Scrap and start over.
MIchael Chiklis was a great THING. Chris Evans was great as Johnny. Jessica Alba is great eye candy but I’m sorry, the girl cannot act worth a damn. The second she also seemed to be wearing contacts to make her eyes look blue even thought they were brown in the first movie. I did like both of those movies quite a bit though. They were not overblown 2 1/2 hour extravaganzas. They were 90 minutes and didn’t try to be any more than what they were.
I think the first two were entertaining, and under rated even. I’m fine with the cast, except Julian McMahon as Doom — who played him like a LOIS AND CLARK villain.
I think the cast would be fine to come back, but improved directing would be nice. Just remember that it is supposed to appeal to kids also, and my family will be happy.
Akiva Goldman isn’t the answer to anything – or at least, not the right answer. This, after all, the same guy who penned both the the LOST IN SPACE movie and BATMNAN FOREVER. (Yes, I know, A BEAUTIFUL MIND also. Ron Howard and Russell Crowe must have *seriously* overhauled that script.)
A few casting isues aside (they’ve been well cited by other commenters), I thought Tim Kring did a good job with the FF movies.
The 1st movie was mediocre. I thought the 2nd film was highly overrated. The scene with the human torch chasing the silver surfer was a very well done scene. I think they did a good job pulling off the silver surfer. If done right the 3rd one can be just as good but I think they need the same cast. oh and I agree with most everyone on here, Put Jessica Alba back to how she looked in the 1st film.
I meant the 2nd film was highly *underrated.
keep Chris Evans and MAYBE Chiklis but please (!) get rid of Jessica Alba!!!!!! she cant act her way out of a paper bag and I didnt buy her for a second as Sue Storm. She had no chemistry with that bland piece of forgettable cardboard that was Reed and looked like she wanted to make out with her brother in the second movie… Come on! get a slightly older actress… someone who can act… Naomi watts??? and also Nip/Tuck guy as Doctor Doom? really? I agree with Bill- he played it as a Lois & Clark villain all the way.. get someone imposing AND a little charasmatic. but Chris Evans as Johnny Storm is spot on
Horrible franchise! Where’s my Xmen!
I didn’t enjoy these movies very much at all. I feel like it should be given up (for now anyway).
This franchise was worse than the Daredevil/Electra one. Besides Chris Evans in a towel, there was nothing remotely fund about either movie especially since they killed, brought back to life, and then killed again two very important storylines in the marvel universe. galactus as a cloud? really?
