Chris Brown involved in two prior 'domestic violence' incidents, report says

Before the February encounter that left Rihanna injured, Chris Brown was involved in two unreported incidents with her that “related to domestic violence,” according to a probation officer’s report filed with the court for the singer’s sentencing today.

The first incident occurred in Europe about three months earlier when Brown and then-girlfriend Rihanna engaged in in a yelling match, the report says. She slapped him, and he responded by shoving her into a wall.  Three weeks before Brown’s felony assault arrest in February, Brown and Rihanna had an argument in a loaner car while in Barbados. He got out and broke the driver’s and passenger side windows. No one was injured.

Brown, 20, was sentenced today to five years of probation and 180 days of community labor for assaulting Rihanna, 21.

A&E to produce Jackson Family reality series

A&E has confirmed that it will produce a reality series featuring the Jackson brothers, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Tentatively titled “Jackson Family Dynasty,”  the series will kick off with A&E’s original one-hour documentary about the family that was shot before Michael Jackson died.  A&E hopes to debut the series this year.

Chris Brown sentenced

According to the Los Angeles Times, Chris Brown was sentenced to five years probation and 180 days community service today, six months after his assault on former girlfriend Rihanna. A plea agreement reached in June guaranteed that Brown would serve probation and take a domestic violence prevention course in lieu of jail time.

Chris Brown’s sentencing for assaulting singer/former girlfriend Rihanna is being moved up to this afternoon, according to the Associated Press. Brown was originally scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday and, according to the AP, is expected to receive five years of probation and six months of community labor. Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna in June. He was arrested after the couple got into a fight prior to the Grammys in February.

La Toya Jackson to sit down with Barbara Walters

La Toya Jackson has agreed to sit down with Barbara Walters for her first one-on-one television interview since the death of her brother Michael. The in-depth conversation will air on the season premiere of ABC’s 20/20 on Friday, Sept. 11, at 10 p.m. Along with the announcement, La Toya Jackson gave a statement to ABC regarding the latest developments in the Michael Jackson investigation: “I am thankful to the investigators for uncovering the truth to the world, and I look forward to the day that justice will be served to ALL the parties involved in my brother’s homicide.”

Rainn Wilson's 'Soul Pancake' book due in Fall 2010

Hyperion announced plans today to publish Soul Pancake by Rainn Wilson. The Office star will  co-write the book with Devon Gundry, Golriz Lucina, and Shabnam Mogharabi, the editors of www.SoulPancake.com. According to Hyperion’s release, Pancake, which is based on the website, will outline “life’s big questions” and cover subjects like religion, war, and love. Says Wilson in the release, “Helping create this book is a dream come true. It will give the SoulPancake team a chance to really dig deep into Life’s Big Questions and give the reader a fun, experiential way to interact with the world of thought, feeling, art and the soul. Wait, what’s a ‘book’ again?”

Pancake will be released in the fall of 2010.

Paula Abdul hosting 'VH1 Divas'

VH1 has confirmed that Paula Abdul is hosting its live VH1 Divas 2009 concert. Abdul first announced the news last night on Twitter. The latest edition of the franchise will include performances by Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, and Jordin Sparks, and VH1 says additional performers and presenters will be added in coming weeks. The concert will air on Sept. 17 at 9 p.m. ET, live from the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Abdul used Twitter earlier this month to announce that she was leaving American Idol.

Elizabeth Banks in talks to star opposite Russell Crowe

Melanie Griffith enters rehab

Melanie Griffith has checked into rehab, according to People. The title also quotes Griffith’s rep as saying that the actress is, “there to reinforce her commitment to stay healthy. This is part of a routine plan that was designed between her and her doctors years ago.”
