Marijuana found in Michael Jackson's home, according to unsealed search warrants

Categories: Music

Newly released search warrants reveal that marijuana was found in Michael Jackson’s home by investigators in the wake of his June 25 death, the Los Angeles Times reports. The unsealed warrants also claim that “tar heroin” was found in Jackson’s bedroom, but sources familiar with the investigation tell the Times that subsequent testing showed the substance was not, in fact, heroin — nor was heroin detected in Jackson’s system. According to the search warrant, family members found the suspected heroin after Jackson’s death and alerted the coroner’s office. Upon searching the house, authorities discovered two baggies of marijuana and a number of empty pill bottles.

Jeremy Piven found not guilty of breaching Broadway contract

Categories: Lawsuits, Stage

According to Variety, an independent arbitrator has ruled that Entourage star Jeremy Piven did not violate his contract with the producers of Speed-the-Plow when he suddenly exited the production last December. (The actor infamously claimed he was suffering from mercury poisoning.) Producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel filed a grievance last February with reps from Broadway and the actor’s union claiming Piven’s alleged illness was not reason enough for him to leave the production. “I’m pleased with the outcome of the arbitration and to be completely vindicated in this matter based on the facts and the medical evidence,” said Piven in a statement. Meanwhile, the producers issued the following response: “While we respect the decision, we strongly disagree with it. We remain eternally grateful to everyone who helped make the wonderful production of Speed-the-Plow possible, especially the artists who created it, and the many who had to deal with very difficult and trying circumstances.”

Mischa Barton explains hospitalization: 'It was a perfect storm'

Categories: Television

Actress Mischa Barton, 23, spoke to Time Out New York this week about the involuntary psychiatric hold she was placed under last month in Los Angeles.

Says the star of the CW’s upcoming The Beautiful Life, “Here’s what happened: Before the show started, I was traveling abroad for contract stuff and I went through a terrible surgery—a wisdom tooth surgery, all four removed. It was a nightmare. I’ve never had surgery before—it all went wrong and I had to have a second surgery and it almost delayed shooting because it was a nightmare to me, because I couldn’t deal with the thought of not getting there on time. So with the travel, and surgery and prep for the show—it was hell.”

“I went through a tough spot where everything compounded on me, and it was like a perfect storm, like everything was happening to me at once. The show, travel and then this fairly routine surgery that went wrong,” she continues. “I was down in the dumps about everything there for a while. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom about things and have to get the most stressed-out just to feel better again. I got completely stressed-out and couldn’t handle everything, and now I feel really in control.”

As for The Beautiful Life, for which she’s shot four episodes, Barrton says: “I’m ready to work … The show will speak for itself. It’s a great show.”
