HBO developing comedy series based on life of former Rolling Stones manager
HBO is developing a comedy series based on the life of Andrew Loog Oldham, a former manager and producer for the Rolling Stones, according to Variety. The network has optioned two volumes of Oldham’s biography, “Stoned” and “2Stoned.” The script for the series will be written by Wesley Strick (Cape Fear) and will be a fictional tale of a young man growing up in London’s Soho in the 1960s.
Michael Jackson to be buried on his birthday, says father
Michael Jackson’s body will be interred on what would have been his 51st birthday, according to comments made by his father, Joe Jackson, in the New York Daily News. The late singer is to be buried at 10 A.M. on Aug. 29 in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles.
Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill join Tina Fey in 'Oobermind'
Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, and Jonah Hill will voice characters in DreamWorks’ animated adventure Oobermind, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ferrell will star as a disaffected supervillain, a role previously assigned to Robert Downey Jr., while Pitt will play his archnemesis and Hill will be a new player on the scene; Tina Fey was cast earlier as a reporter. The comedy is due in fall 2010.
Mike Nichols getting in 'Deep Water'
Director Micke Nichols and writer Joe Penhall have been tapped for an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s 1957 novel Deep Water, according to Variety. The book is about “a couple in a loveless marriage [who] hang on through an arrangement whereby the husband permits the wife to take lovers. Suspense builds as those lovers begin dying.” Highsmith, who died in 1995, also wrote Strangers on a Train and The Talented Mr. Ripley.
Alyssa Milano weds
Actress Alyssa Milano married David Bugliari, an agent, this weekend at his family’s home in New Jersey. According to People, the couple met in 2006, and had been engaged since December. After a run on My Name is Earl, Milano is now set for the upcoming ABC series Romantically Challenged.
'White Chicks' sequel planned
The Wayans Brothers are working on a sequel to 2004′s White Chicks, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Shawn and Marlon Wayans will once again play two FBI agent siblings who go undercover as white women. Keenen Ivory Wayans will direct, and the three brothers will write the film.
'Spider-Man 5' and 'Spider-Man 6' land a writer
Sony Pictures Entertainment has hired James Vanderbilt to write the planned Spider-Man 5 and Spider-Man 6 films, Variety reports. Vanderbilt was the lead writer for the upcoming Spider-Man 4, scheduled to hit theaters May 2011. The fifth and sixth films in the web-slinging series are reported to share “an interconnected storyline.”
'Midnight, Mass.' coming to NBC
NBC has picked up a live-action television series based on the comic-book series Midnight, Mass., according to The Hollywood Reporter. The drama will feature “a sophisticated, sexy, globe-trotting husband-and-wife team who solve mysteries and crimes of the supernatural.”
Bow Wow signs to Cash Money
Bow Wow has announced via Twitter that he is now signed to Cash Money Records, the storied New Orleans hip-hop imprint that has produced stars including Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and Big Tymers. Until recently, the onetime child rapper was signed with Columbia/So So Def, which released his latest album, New Jack City II, this spring.
