Adam Lambert reveals album details

Categories:

adam-lambert_lIn an interview with People.com, Adam Lambert revealed details of his upcoming debut album. According to the Idol runner-up, the debut will be “quite eclectic.” Says Lambert, “There are songs on there that are anthems; there are songs that make you want to dance; there are songs that make you feel sexy; there are songs that touch you, hopefully, with more emotional, insightful, deeper lyrics…There are songs that are more in the line with a rock sound. There are some that are really pop-oriented.”

Lambert has already made headway on the album—the singer says he’s halfway finished with the record, and has already done a photo shoot. “I can’t wait to see people’s reaction. It’s just going to be fun,” he told People.com.

Hmmm, that sounds interesting. I guess I always expected him to go the rock/glam rock route rather than go eclectic.

    • Snarky Snarf Snarf

      eclectic = unfocused + producers(squared) – raw talent

      • Ben

Well, I suppose at worst this could be the case, but it could also allow Adam to show different sides of himself through different types of music. I think that we should give him the benefit of the doubt. I mean, even if he did give us “Play that Funky Music”, “Born to Be Wild”, and “One”, he also gave us stunningly good performances like “Mad World” and “Tracks of My Tears”.

      • Angela

He said flat-out on Idolatry that he did not want to be pigeonholed and wanted his album to have something for everyone because that’s the kind of music he likes to perform. It does not at ALL mean unfocused. He’s VERY focused, you can tell by listening to his interviews. He knows exactly what he’s doing…he’s almost a bit calculating. And I don’t mean that as an insult.

  • linda

I really respect Adam’s talent, and supported him on Idol. However, the “electric” thing has me wondering. I thought he was going to be a really big superstar, and he may very well be. However, personally, I am not into the “electric” thing and I am getting nervous!!!

    • will

      ECLECTIC not electric

    • Kay

It said “Eclectic” instead of electric

    • crispy

Eclectic? You mean his music will sound like eclairs? Mmmm, eclairs.

      • Sheba

Are you stupid or something? Do you own a dictionary?

      • crispy

Not so stupid that I can’t detect sarcasm when it’s sitting on a plate in front of me filled with delicious, delicious custard.

      • Marlowe32

Crispy – I love it when people are too stupid to recognize sarcasm when they see it / hear it….I’d like an eclectic chocolate electric eclair, please…

      • CT

crispy… you’re the funniest guy alive. And that’s NOT sarcasm. Lol.

      • gazelovr

        mmmm custard is delicious!!

    • JD

      WHAT IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?

      • Walter Sobchak

I’ll tell you what she’s not taling about and that’s buddies dying face down in the muck, while some strumpet, some w*(re goes prancing around…

    • Terri

He said eclectic (meaning varied), not electric.

    • rebecca

me too. i hope its all apropraite, and no explicit content. i want to enjoy his music without cringing

  • Sarah

I don’t think I could be any more excited for this!!!!!!!

    • Mads

      Me too!!! :)

  • SCat

I’m sure it will be excellent no matter what genre it is. Can’t wait this is one album I will be purchasing.

  • will

This is so Adam ( electic means many different styles) which is what he can do, so many aritists just have the one thing they do, Adam can do it all, this is different , innovative, exciting and about time for someone like him to shake up the music scene

    • Chichi

A lot of artists can break out into different genres easily, but it seems to be the industry standard and some of the record buying public that likes to pigeon hole artists.
There are plenty that bend genres who are dang good at it.
      A Fine Frenzy
      Raul Malo
      Patty Griffin
      Robyn
      VV Brown
      Roisin Murphy
      The Roots
      Santigold
      A Camp

      • Zoey

I like that you included VV Brown- I want her album to come to the states so badly.

      • ktwolf

Raul Malo is an incredible singer, and a wonderful performer. And his style is definitely unique. I encourage EVERYONE to check him ougt!

      • james

you left off Michael Jackson. He won the grammy for best rock vocal in 1984. If that’s not genre bending then I don’t know what is.

    • prgemgirl

You go Will!!!!! Adam’s ability to sing all kinds of music, and sing it really well simply means that these various genre’s will appeal to a varied audience as well, not just to those who only like his glam-rock songs, or mellow pop rock ones typified by Mad World or Starlight. It should showcase his totality as a singer. I, for one am glad he has chosen this appproach.

  • Bill

When Adam Lambert says his songs will “touch me”, it makes me want to go take a shower.

    • LindaT

If you don’t like the guy, why are you reading and commenting on this article? Oh, by the way, homophobia is not cool.

    • Lisa

      You stay classy, Bill.

    • sj

I agree, Bill. It’s hard not to get hot and bothered.

    • Mar In Everett

      Me too, with him!

    • 2t2tag

he really doesn’t want to touch YOU, you tool. maybe you should take a nice cleansing bath to wash out your dirty mind.

    • pip

When I hear childish homophobic comments like this, it makes we want to take a long hot shower to wash off the dirt of such a remark.

      • L*

Lamebert tards–anybody who says anything negative about Adam Lambert is automatically homophobic. Get over yourselves. I hate his voice, rawk posing, etc. but doesn’t mean I’m homophobic–Pet Shop Boys, Queen, Indigo Girls are some of my favorite bands. Adam’s fans are the new Claymates.

      • lfperry

L* Why are you even taking part in this discussion if you don’t like Adam Lambert? Maybe because you have no life and no friends??

    • Sheba

      You probably should take one.

    • Sheba

What are you doing on this page? Go take a shower.

    • Jason

First try to get classy Bill.

      • Tizzy

How the hell do you know that Bill was talking about Adam’s being gay, LindaT? You know, people who claim that others are homophobic are often attempting to mask their own homophobia.

    • James S.

Wow, Bill, looks like you pissed a few people off.

      • ophu

Adam would probably be creeped out if Bill “touched” him as well.

    • Mary

      A cold shower?

    • Cindy

Please grow up and learn some manners, you homophobic bigot.

      • Misha

OMG!! I’m a huge Adam fan but don’t understand why someone can’t voice their opinion, even if it’s against Adam. They are automatically considered homophobic…which I think just fules all the focus on his sexuality. Who cares if he’s gay or straight. Can he sing? YES!!! Is everyone going to be a fan? Ummmmm…no…but that’s ok, and acceptable. Get over it and focus on the positive:)

  • LT

Isn’t this news a little old? And you had to get it from People? I would imagine the song from the 2012 Soundtrack is going to come out before the album. Can’t believe it hasn’t leaked yet with all the praise it’s getting.

    • crispy

It’s not old. He just keeps saying the same quote over and over again whenever someone asks about the album.

    • John

I think when a site/magazine breaks a story they get a certain “exclusive” timeframe that prevents other organizations from reporting it. After that time, the others can and do publish it themselves, even if it’s old news, because some people don’t read the other source (i.e. People).

  • Kerry

Eclectic, just means that he will be recording a variety of styles of music. Adam sang various genres on American Idol. He will do the same with his album.

  • Shamrock

    Who?

    • Tina

Shamrock I think your on the wrong page stupid!

      • mscisluv

Tina, before you call people stupid, please learn the difference between “your” and “you’re.”

      • Tina

Are we in school? Are you an English teacher? And before YOU correct my spelling how about you fix the spelling of your nic? Yeah it is real cute but spelled wrong, but then I guess YOU knew that, right english grammar police? LOL

  • Amanda P.

I can’t wait until his CD comes out and I don’t care what type of music he chooses to sing on it because any sound out of his mouth is perfect, to me. However, I think it is going to be a huge best selling CD and will be up for several Grammy Awards especially Best New Artist, mark my words.

    • KKK

Guess what! I am from Hong Kong and we have BIG LOVE for Mr Lambert here!!!! His debut CD is going to soar!!!!! Also he’s got millions of fans in Japan and China and people there have their own fansites!!! This man is molten HOT HOT HOT!!! All over the world!

  • Karen

What are we gonna do without Adam on IDOL this year. If you liked him or not, he brought so much variety to the show. I really think it was Paula’s best year ever too because she finally had some real talent to listen too.
    Best wishes Adam !!

  • Lisa

Whatever Adam wants to sing and however he wants to sing it will be just fine with me. With his voice and his ability to put his special touch on everything that he does, he can’t lose. I look at his AI performances and every one was breathtaking no matter the genre. GO ADAM!!!

    • JoJo

I’m going on 63 years old and I love Adam, Me and my husband think he is the best thing since chocolate milk !

      • smilie12

No. Nothing beats chocolate milk. Make mine lowfat. Regardless, I do enjoy Adam’s singing. I can’t wait for the album to come out. Okay where is that refrigerator?

      • gabulldawg

Jojo…you Gogo! Luv Adam…beautiful, who cares if he can sing. :)

  • Nina

Whatever he does will NO DOUBT be brilliant. As Randy was so fond of saying…He could sing the phone book. The man is just destined to be an entertainment Icon.

    • smilie12

They should have an AI show where the Idols do actually sing the phone book instead of Disco week. It would certain be better.

  • Lola

I cannot wait! I am so excited for this album! Adam could sing anything and I would happily pay money to listen.

  • virginia

CAN’T WAIT!!!! Whatever it’ll be, I guarantee it’ll be GREAT. Will be waiting in line for it.

    Love the Artist! Love Adam!
