Chris Brown to appear on 'Larry King Live'

Categories: Lawsuits, Music, News

Chris Brown sat down with Larry King and gave his first interview since his Feb. 8 arrest for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna, reports Entertainment Tonight. Brown’s mother, Joyce Hawkins, and his lawyer, Mark Geragos, were reportedly both present during what one unnamed source said was a very emotional interview. Brown was officially sentenced on Aug. 25 to five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony assault. The interview will air on CNN Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.

Hopefully he will tell the WHOLE story. Im sure he received some licks too. That doesn’t make it right at all, but I hate the double standards that society has for men and women. If Rihanna had hit him (which she probably did) then people would’ve just thought it was funny and called him a whimp.

    • Paul

      I totally agree with you

      • someGuy

Would you feel the same way if it were your little sister? Or would you do nothing about it and then blame her?

    • kim

      agreed

    • Amy

The reason for the double-standard is testosterone. Usually, men have more of it than women. It makes them, stronger and more muscular than women. So, even though it’s not okay when a woman hits a man, it’s worse when someone stronger and more aggressive fights back.
There is no fairness to the way men and women are built, so there is no fairness in how people react to their aggression. Men are usually stronger and society has every right to expect men to hold back from beating women. MOST men don’t–so the others can learn.

    • april

oh yes, i’m sure he recieved “licks.” are you an idiot? all he had were scratches taht were proven to be from defense. you better hope your mother or sister is never abused, then you’ll be forced to actually use a brain cell and change your mind.

      • Chazz

        yes, he/she is an idiot

    • Christina

I totally agree with you. She probably did hit him or she could have nagged him on to hit her. And if she did hit him first no one would have believe him if he said so and therefore he took it into his own hands and hit her back. I dont think he should have gotten 5 years of probation.

      • johndoe

Reading these comments on here is sad and shows just how backwards society has become. I don’t care if a woman hits a man or what, it’s wrong for a man to beat up a female. Period. What part of that is so hard to understand? And it’s usually WOMEN who defend this guy. Probably the same stupid women getting beat up every night right now.

    • liz

I am sure if it was just an ordinary man as in not famous it couldnt been a such a fuss.we all make mistakes and i am sure he must havebeen provoked so lets please give chris a break he is trying to make things right.LUV U CHRIS

    • myself

      i totally agree with that

    • Chazz

Me: re. “I’m sure he received licks too” – you are a mindless sorry excuse for a human being.

      • Chazz

Liz, Christina, Kim, “myself”, Paul – you can also join “me” as a member of the class of pathetic, backwards losers.

    • Angie

Here’s the problem – he left. It would’ve been nice if he would’ve stayed, waited for the cops, and showed them his licks from Rihanna. But he bolted and left his girlfriend beaten, bloodied, and jacked up on the street. There have been instances where both people were arrested if there is evidence of abuse from both sides.

Even if Rihanna started it, even if she slapped him first, the reaction has to be somewhat equitable to the action. If you push me, I can’t take out a gun and shoot you unless there is imminent danger to my life. And even then, that’s gonna be a hard sell to stay out of prison.

It would be one thing if he just smacked her. It would be one thing if he punched her once. But he smacked her, punched her repeatedly, choked her out, BIT her. Are you kidding me?

Instead of going on Larry King, Chris Brown needs to go away for about 6 months and let this story DIE. Check into someplace, get some psychotherapy to deal with his obvious rage issues, do his community service, and just lay low.

      • Nessie2009

I don’t know that any of that stuff happened because neither Chris or Rihanna has openingly said that stuff happened. She ain’t talking and he ain’t saying what we really want to know. So here’s how I feel: I have never been hit by a guy before and I feel that I have not because 1st: I don’t hit them and 2ndly: I don’t associate myself with people who have anger management problems. Trust and believe there is more to this story and if it were not, he would have been able to speak on what happened. I get that he loves Rihanna and he does not want to hurt any further, but he constantly threw himself under the bus last night on the show by not explaining what happened exactly. When asked if alcohal was involved, he simply said that he does not drink and when pressed on the issue, he said that he would not elaborate. So I took that to mean that she could have been drinking because as much as the pap. follows him around if he does drink we would know it by now. Finally, I’m sick of people crying about domestic violence. Women are mistreated everyday and nobody seems to care, but this famous chick gets battered and now everybody cares about domestic violence, PLEASE. Just make sure that you are around and proactive the next time some female is being mentally, physically, or sexually abused. When you become a crusader for the cause, then you can comment, but until then stop trying to turn Chris Brown into some kind of “one of a kind” monster!

    • Monica

I 100% AGREE!!! Leave Chris Brown ALONE!

  • James The Greatest

Why can’t Chris Brown just go away for a while? THAT would be the classier way of resolving this PR nightmare. I’m pretty sure the average non-celebrity convict doesn’t get a chance to atone for his/her crimes on television, so Chris Brown shouldn’t either. I’m just so tired of hearing about this whole thing. Make this story go away and stop indulging Chris’s “Remorse Tour ‘09″.

    • t3hdow

Bingo. That, and the more Chris Brown speaks up on the issue, the worse it reflects on him. The Youtube apology should’ve been enough. Stretching it further will only hinder him further.

  • Ronnel

He gave her two black eyes, Bruises to her face, and chocked her till she lost passed out(and left the scene of his crime). I dont care if she hit him or not his actions were WAYYY out of hand. The fact that people are defending his actions is beyond me.

    • Rachel

      i second this comment.
we all saw the pictures, Rihanna was beaten. Chris Brown deserved jail time.

      • RiRi

I agree with you both. But I do feel that we shouldn’t officially judge him because the stats show that if you grow up around domestic violence, then chances are you will be involved with it later in life. and thats exactly what happened. I think we should wait and see how he reacts and handles the help he’s getting with his anger, rage, etc. But I do agree that he acted way out of control. I say he needs help, if he does it again, jail time for LONG time. and i mean LONG.

      • Cleavon

Riri – yes, many people who are violent grew up in that environment but that doesn’t diminish the pain they cause in the present. If we excused murderers based on a tough childhood, we’d be letting a lot of people off the hook. I question how earnestly he is addressing his situation when he’s spending all his time rehabilitating his public image on TV and YouTube instead of soul searching and looking into himself. When people make this kind of show of remorse, I’m very sceptical.

    • deb

Hey buddy – learn to spell – chocked? I believe you mean “choked”. Sorry, but spelling counts!

    • deb

Hey buddy – learn to spell! “chocked”?? I believe you meant “choked”? Spelling does count!

  • Ronnel

He gave her two black eyes, bruises to her face, and chocked her till she passed out(and left the scene of his crime). I dont care if she hit him or not his actions were WAYYY out of hand. The fact that people are defending his actions is beyond me.

    • Cleavon

Ronnel, right on and thank you. Finally, a decent person amidst these Maury Povich Show rejects!

  • tounta525

Nobody really knows what happened and the pics they showed of her 2 me really was not that bad I’ve seen much worst in the hood. And who ever seen her without makeup I’m sorry we just don’t kno

    • mel

You’ve got to be kidding me. Let’s see how you feel when your man beats you into unconsciousness and gives you two black eyes. Will you still feel “it’s not that bad” then? Any man that hits a women is a pvssy plain and simple.

      • brianna

you right but i kinda agree with what some are saying, you dont know how she really looks or what was on her face without make-up. they have shown pictures with rihanna hiding cut marks on her rist so i mean you never know….

      • Terry

What you people need to do is to start encourage people who have done wrong to do better. Stop reminding them of their pass mistakes. If you keep telling someone they will never change, once a beater will always be one then they will be come just like you who don’t believe it change. We as people should stop putting down someone and stop choosing sides. This is a serious matter. We need to Help each other. GOD does help us and forgive us and encourage us to be like Him. Stop BLAMING and start encouraging young men and women to talk their problem out rather arguing and fighting. You Blaming Chris or Rihanna has not stop domestic violence. I pray to GOD that all of you stop chosing side and figure out what you can do in your community to stop domestic violence.

    • Milo

Man or woman, that was a bad beating. That was horrible. He should be in jail.

    • Cleavon

tounta – what an incredible loser you are

    • Cleavon

brianna – don’t be an idiot – you have eyes to see, stop minimizing

  • stonermoog

he’s a thug and a coward, beating up on a girl. he’s disgusting. he should be in jail. no amount of p.r. will ever erase the fact that he likes to beat up girls.

    • shanta

you really need to get a life and worry about your own life instead of theirs

      • woh01

Hey – you’re here commenting on this. Seems to me like perhaps you could use a life of your own to take care of too!

      • Cleavon

shanta for the Defence!- seems to me you just don’t like what Stoner is saying – well too bad…HE IS A THUG, an immature bad boy with lots of money and lots of growing up to do. If you want to defend a
coward like this, then you are pathetic.

  • thinkingoutloud

I am a former attorney. Women assault and beat men regularly. Many of those who are physically abused by a man provoke it by initiating violence. Anybody who doubts this should go sit in district court and just watch the proceedings. In my opinion, Chris Brown was treated relatively harshly as a first-time offender with a clean record otherwise. He’s young and wasn’t raised with many advantages. His talent and ambition have brought him to a better place, so let’s give the kid the opportunity to learn from his mistakes and grow into his celebrity. And, let’s also hope that he and his future girlfriend does a better job than Rihanna in bringing out the best in her man.

    • samiam

Out of the hundreds of opinions, blogs, and comments I have seen on this subject, you by far have made the most sense. Thank you.

      • to Samiam

        Another loser…

      • Terry

I like your comment. I Think the reason why people are unable to change sometimes, is people like some of these negative blogger who don’t try to help other to change. They will keep on telling someone who have done something wrong that they are never going to change and keep reminding them that they will be evil for life. People don’t like to reach out and encourge a person to change and better themselves and so I say they are as bad as the mistake Chris Brown made. GOD forgive so when will you.

    • Kieran

So…what you’re saying is that Brown was a perfectly nice boy, but Rhianna made him beat her? You probably also think OJ had a right to knife Nicole to death.

I do think Brown is redeemable, and for everyone’s sake, I sincerely hope he gets his life back in order. To do that, however, he should step away from the spotlight and concentrate on his counseling.

      • pinkdiva

OJ didnt knife nicole down were you there did you see him do it!!! I think not.

    • shelby

yeah let’s blame this on rihanna for tapping into his natural and primal instincts. i definitely wouldn’t want you representing me!

    • melsey

Thank God you’re a former attorney!

    • katie

      i hope you were dis-barred.

    • Nicole

oh yes agreed. you do make the most sense. Thank Jesus.

    • Cleavon

thinking: with you as a former attorney, no wonder lawyers are as vilified as they are. Your comment that you hope Chris Brown’s next girlfriend will do a better job at bringing out the best in him??? Are you for real? You are actually blaming Rihanna for this! Buddy, you are right DOWN there with the others in your profession like Conray Murray. No wonder people hate lawyers.

  • Butters

I’m sure he felt really bad cuz he just went out partying last night.

    • Ace

      there’s TRUE REMORSE for ya’

  • monique

im behind chris 100% hes only human every1 one makes mistakes hes jus gunna hav2 learn from this one

    • pinkdiva

I agree I believe she really provoked him… but he didnt have to go so hard on her. But she prob acts so much like a diva she needed to be chopped back dwn to real life sorry but sometime a beat dwn will bring you back to reality. HA!!!!

  • Bkoti

I agree with ‘thinkingoutloud’. With 3 young sons, its disheartening to see one of their role models do something like this. Period. There is no excuse. However, we are ALL human and make mistakes BIG & small. Forgiveness is just part of being human. Side note: Look at what society is doing to Michael Vick…it just makes NO SENSE.

  • Tai

    OMG I CANT WAIT..LUV U CHRIS!!!

  • caroline

I can’t wait to hear Chris’s side of the story. I wonder if he will address rumors that Rihanna has hit him before.

  • kayla2

He should have gone to jail, and wait until a big old brute guy gets a hold of him and does to him what he did to that woman; only then will he realize what’s like to be at the receiving end of a beating and only then it will be clear to him what he did. His only remorse is that he is seeing his so-called career down the drain. This man has absolutely no remorse.

  • rick

Did he kill riri! The way someppl is acting towards Chris, u would think he killed her. Let this child live his life. That’s right,he’s a lil boy looking for help to oprah.

  • Muffy

I love people swear they were there! I LOVE IT!
