ABC remake of 'V' shuts down; not expected to affect November start date

Insiders at both ABC and Warner Bros. TV confirmed an online report that V – ABC’s much-anticipated remake of the sci-fi miniseries that stars Elizabeth Mitchell and Scott Wolf – has temporarily halted production. The two-weeek hiatus that’ll begin Sept. 3 is not expected to affect the drama’s Nov. 3 start date. Warner Bros. TV released this statement: “We will take advantage of our November premiere to maximize creative opportunities and deliver the audience the best show possible.”

holy sh*t…this, uh… looks amazing!! i seriously hope this becomes a hit FAST. this seems to be my replacement for LOST come the 2010-2011 season. i also hope flashforward works out but i have this gut feeling only one will come out with a second season.

    • Tommy

Couldn’t agree more. But I think both will get more than 1 season.

  • Nick

I read ABC remake of V shuts down and almost freaked out for them canceling a show before it airs…but then I read the second part of the headline. :P

It would be like ABC to cancel a show before it airs. They’d cancel their Grandma if she couldn’t get decent ratings for a week or two.

      • Sydney

I hear ya. I’m STILL pissed about “Pushing Daisies”.

  • Ry Jay

Sounds like they’re retooling already. Or they’ve milked the original miniseries as much as they can now they have to venture on their own. Or they didn’t have much faith this would be picked up? *shrug*

I have a bad feeling this show is gonna suck. The trailer looks like it focuses too much on human drama… when we all just wanna see aliens peel off their faces and eat rats.

    • Sparky

The woman swallowing the rats whole at the start of the original show used to freak me the hell out when I was a kid… I wonder are they going to put that in this version?

      • Al

Wasn’t it a guinea pig, which made it even more frightening because rats are kind of gross.

    • RocketGirl

Crispy, yer dang right! But then again, at least the special effects are gonna be better.

  • Heidi

Looks pretty cool. I hope this two week hiatus isn’t because its heading south.

  • James The Greatest

Does anyone else get a ‘Battlestar Galactica’ vibe (not necessarily a bad thing) from this trailer? Just substitute cylons with “visitors” and let the witch hunt amongst the main characters begin!

  • Snarf

This is actually a good thing. The same situation arose with Dollhouse last year, and look how that turned out.

I saw the pilot at Comic Con, it wasn’t that good. I wanted to like it but most of the cool scenes have been done before.

  • mre

Gotta agree…looks AMAZING!! But a ‘hiatus’ already doesn’t bode well in my book!

  • john t.

i also saw the pilot at comic con. i honestly thought it was great.

i’m usually not a big sci-fi fan and i didn’t watch the original miniseries, so i really didn’t know what to expect.

i hope it does well during its first season.

  • Windward

It seems likely to me this is about Juliet being needed back on Lost.

    • Johnny

Holy crap!!!! You are so right!

    • K

I hope your right. The more Juliet the better.

  • Samantha

I dont watch shows that are scary. Also Boring.

  • Nick

I REALLY want to like this show but I have a feeling it’s gonna be crap and canceled after like 2 eps, looks kinda cheesy.

  • John

I’m just going to go ahead, be hopeful and think this is because Elizabeth Mitchell is shooting scenes for next season’s Lost. (I know, I know they probably haven’t started production, but I can still dream.)

    • Nick

They started filming a few days ago, so that is very likely.
