Hyperion announced plans today to publish Soul Pancake by Rainn Wilson. The Office star will co-write the book with Devon Gundry, Golriz Lucina, and Shabnam Mogharabi, the editors of www.SoulPancake.com. According to Hyperion’s release, Pancake, which is based on the website, will outline “life’s big questions” and cover subjects like religion, war, and love. Says Wilson in the release, “Helping create this book is a dream come true. It will give the SoulPancake team a chance to really dig deep into Life’s Big Questions and give the reader a fun, experiential way to interact with the world of thought, feeling, art and the soul. Wait, what’s a ‘book’ again?”
Pancake will be released in the fall of 2010.

When can I preorder?
Let it Rainn on me.
I don’t know about this. I was a fan of Rainns until I followed him on Twitter and looked over the Soul Pancake website. Not really funny at all. Not as good as Michael Ian Black. Guess it’s tough to always be “on.”
Guess I should modify that. Last time I was on the website it looked to be a lame attempt at comedy. Just checked it out again and saw it is more of a serious look at several issues. So either it’s changed, or I have. Sorry Rainn. Still don’t think your tweets are that funny though.
Ana, I think your comment is very funny! RW is not trying to crack everyone up with all these questions about life, the soul and reality. But I do recommend the movie, “The Rocker,” if you want a good laugh.
I think this is awesome. I love SoulPancake and now I can buy and love the book! Can’t Wait! Next is a movie/documentary!
SoulPancake is a place to discuss life’s big questions – but people discuss these topics on most discussion forums on the internet. Instead of being so wishy-washy and liberal it should just straight up say “we think the answers to all life’s big questions are found in the Baha’i Faith”. That would make it a bit different to the rest of the internet.
If the book follows the same format as the website (i.e. ‘there is no such thing as a right or wrong answer’–complete rubbish, sorry) then how will it be interesting or useful? People want to know the truth and to hear satisfying answers, not wade through thousands of contrary opinions. Please guys, don’t screw up this huge teaching opportunity.
This is great! Love it!
Megaman, if you’d like a view on a more Baha’i-oriented blog with multiple authors check out http://www.bahaiperspectives.com. Soul Pancake gives people a space to explore issues they may never have consciously thought about otherwise, and I commend Rainn and the team for putting the site together.
Megaman – Soulpancake is not a website to promote the Baha’i Faith. It is simply a website where you can think about creativity, religion, faith, and etc. I do agree with you in the sense that some things are plain wrong though but people who are “lost” and “searching” or doubting their life, don’t want to hear that what they believe in is wrong.
Although Rainn Wilson is known as a comedian, I don’t think he ever planned to make the site SoulPancake.Com funny in the first place. It’s really meant to invite people talking about serious stuffs. It might not be funny, but it surely is fun. I love SoulPancake.Com and I can’t wait to hold the book
Billboard CCM sales chart for 34 weeks. ,
The site is a good idea but everytime I’m there it feels like it’s just a venue for white hipster types who want to explore deep thoughts. Look at the images that accompany the entries. Not a whole lot of diversity there. Will the book be the same?
