on behalf of all self respecting fathers who would never consider leaving a child with this freak of nature. thank you doc
You just stated, in a nutshell, why he was acquitted!!!–I hope you are not a father–I feel sorry for YOUR kids
Ryan aka SUPERDAD: Reminder…Michael was acquitted of these charges. Many families stayed with him and benefitted from his largesse – a few of them saw the opportunity for the big payday. In court in 2004 the mother of the plaintiff showed herself to be a gold-digging opportunist – the case was over. MJ was surrounded by many characters who used him. And, do the world a favour…don’t have any more kids. Your comment is plain nasty and you don’t want to impart that kind of mean-spiritedness to children.
Michael Jackson was a tormented and tortured man who only wanted to get some sleep. If we had lived in his shoes, we probably would have given anything for a good nights sleep as well. He didn’t deserve to die for that. Chronic pain and insomnia are hard to live with. Multiply that many times over by constant media attention and public opinion, its no wonder the man couldn’t sleep.
Homicide means “death at the hands of another” which Michael’s death was. A manslaughter (accidental death)charge is no different here than someone accidentally hitting a pedestrian while driving their car. Dr.Murray may not have killed him with “malice/or intent” but he did kill him by administering a combination of drugs that were lethal. As a physician, he should know if the drugs could be given together without complications. That is part of his job. If he did not know, he should not have been given Jackson the drugs to begin with especially one that was not intended for home use. Whatever his reasons for doing it, (money, star power or whatever) it was his obligation as a doctor to be sure in his treatment of Michael. He was not and Michael died. This is medical negligence and should be punished by manslaughter. It’s also an open invitation for the family to sue the doctor for medical negligence.
We have lost so many people like this. Elvis, Marilyn, Anna Nicole and Heath Ledger just to name a few. How many more do we have to lose before something is done to stop it? If anything good comes from Michael Jackson’s death, I hope the situation is used to put an end to doctor aided drug abuse. Charges against other doctors who treated those that have died were dismissed because they were hard to prove. Dr. Murray admitted he gave him the drugs. The proof is there. Michael Jackson’s star power may be just what it takes to stop this senseless abuse of drugs by stars and ordinary people. As a parent, I hope so.
Everyone wants to make their mark in this world but I wouldn’t want to be known the world over as the person who killed Michael Jackson. No one has ever been as world renowned and loved as MJ. Prison will probably be the safest place for Dr. Murray. There’s a lot of crazies in the world.
Just to add – the problem of drugs and celebrities goes back beyond Elvis and Marilyn, even to the rising young star, Judy Garland, and to the studio system that made sure their stars got what they needed in order to keep up their gruelling performance schedule. This starts people down a path of drug dependence and you cannot fairly at the end of the day turn around and place all the blame for her early death, squarely and totally on the star herself. The doctors, the studio – everyone else got to walk away scot free. If Michaels’s demise sheds a bright light on this long-running abuse, then something good has come of it.
Norma J, you just summed up this whole discussion. You are correct on each and every point–’nuff said.
