Ryan Jenkins, a contestant on VH1 reality series Megan Wants a Millionaire and subject of a manhunt as a suspect in the death of his ex-wife, Jasmine Fiore, was found dead in a motel room in British Columbia, Canadian law enforcement officials announced on Sunday, CNN reports. The N.Y. Times, among other media outlets, are characterizing it as an “apparent suicide,” citing Canadian police. Jenkins had faced first-degree murder charges in California. His whereabouts were unknown for a week after Fiore’s body was discovered last Saturday near Los Angeles. Canadian police were unable to say how long Jenkins’ body was at the motel before its discovery, according to an Associated Press report.

Comments like this make me fear for humanity. Two people are DEAD, one of them was murdered. How can you be so heartless? I guess it’s partly because of internet-provided anonymity. However, I don’t know how people can sleep at night when they make comments, such as this, that show a complete lack of respect for human life…and an utter absence of basic human decency.

Sorry to break it to you but death is, in fact, the “end all be all”. You can argue for heaven and hell, etc; but in the context of this life on earth and especially in the context of VH1′s programming decisions, two people dead trumps all. Not only would it be bad form morally and ethically to profit off this suspected murderer, it would be bad business as well.
I can only hope this comment was a joke…and in either case, it would take a total idiot to say this.

Wow! What are we becoming? I have never watched the programs from which these people came to prominence, but I had to comment after reading these other posts here. No big loss? Why should I care? It is probably a very big deal to their families who deserve better than seeing harsh and cruel things slapped across the internet. You should care because this could happen to anyone and I would hope you would want your family shown respect while they grieve. I am sorry to be preachy but this type of callousness makes me very sad. I find these type of shows ridiculous but would I wish/condone/celebrate death for their participants? Absolutely not.Humans need to get their humanity back.
Very well written, thank you. I’ll confess that I love these trashy shows and would have liked to see the rest of Megan wants a millionaire, but vh1 made the right choice to cancel the two shows. I too am absolutely disgusted when I read comments like “Sad, he’s hot!” — do you realize what he did to that poor girl? He took out her teeth and cut her fingers off so she couldn’t be ID’d after he strangled her. The situation is extremely tragic, for both of their families.

G, Just wanted to point out that as a reality “star” on one VH1 show, I doubt he could afford the “best lawers in the world”. I don’t particularly care about the rest of the comments. But this one kinda made me pause since I keep hearing that he is a reality “star” and “famous”, etc. He is (was before this anyway) about as famous as Mohammed Bilal.

You gotta love all the sensitive people getting holier than thou because people are interested in the shows. Yes it’s sad, but HELLO you’re reading an article about a model and a reality show contestants on an entertainment website. The shows are entertaining. Yes what happened is a tragedy, but I have my own tragedies in life to deal with, and shows like this are a nice escape from reality. So… does anyone know who Megan picked?
Holier than though? Because people have died and they’re asking that others treat their deaths and their families with a modicum of decency? Interesting. Regardless of what did or did not happen, their families deserve to not see stupid crap written about them or to see people worry about some shows, entertaining or not. Call me holier than though if you like. I like to think of myself as a caring person who has not lost the humanity that society has tried to take away.
