MTV renews 'Going Out With Him?' and orders new reality shows

Tags:

MTV has given a thumbs-up to several scripted and reality shows while renewing three first-year shows, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Among the new series in the works: the Ashton Kutcher-produced American Idiots, a sitcom called Hard Times and an untitled comedy/variety project starring Rob Hoffman. MTV also ordered a second season of Is She Really Going Out With Him?, a show inspired by the site Hot Chicks With Douchebags, and Silent Library, which is based on a Japanese game show.

Kutcher’s American Idiots features a cast of “idiots” who re-enact popular viral videos for cash prizes. Hard Times stars Paul Iacono as a late-blooming loser. Teen Cribs, a spinoff of MTV Cribs, was also picked up for 40 episodes.

Remember when MTV actually played music? This headline alone is why I stopped watching MTV, they should just rename that channel because there hasn’t been any music on that channel for a long time.

The only good things on MTV are Nitro Circus and Fantasy Factory. Genuinely hilarious shows.

I thought the M in MTV was Music – where did the music go – does anyone make music videos anymore…and do they let anyone watch them on the TV – you know the television… not the streaming internet connection…
