TNT’s medical drama Hawthorne, starring Jada Pinkett Smith, has been renewed for a second season, the network announced today. The next batch of 10 episodes will begin airing in 2010.

Ugh. That show is so treacly. I half expected the cast to join hands and sing Heal the World at the end of each episode.

I’m on the fence. It certainly has some good parts to it, but I agree “treacly” is a great word for it. I do love Jada. I think it just needs a revamp.

I ALSO THINK THE HOMELESS CHICK SHOULD BE OUTED AND BECOME THE SHOW’S FIRST GAY CHARACTER SINCE IT’S OBVIOUS THAT SHE COULD PLAY IT PRETTY WELL.

Couldn’t make it past the pilot. For example they call her the chief nursing officer of the hospital and my mother is a nursing manager of a real hospital. Jada Pinkett is really doing the job of a nursing manager which is under the chief nursing manager. They do not walk around in lab coats. They do not yell and scream. A nursing manager is in charge of staffing and making sure that the staff is in line and that the patient’s families understand the condition of the loved one and their options and problems with insurance and the like.
The pilot brought about negativeness related to hospitals with a boss who keeps ranting “I’m in charge! I’m a nurse! (and apparently still does that from what I can tell in the ads they show during ‘Leverage’) and cute little nurses who give hand jobs to the hot guy patients. Pathetic.
Yeah no need for the recap. Seems that maybe you’re looking at real life too much. Wake up guys this is a show on TNT not the 5 o’clock news. IT IS FICTIONAL. Get on with it. It is not meant to be portrayed as true to life events. Goodness…

I am a nurse and this show makes me want to rip out my eyes. The touch a head and scream VITALS ARE STABLE or say a blood pressure is 120/80 and the screen shows 80/20. It’s just hard to watch.
Perhaps too much time is being spent on looking at the machinery and being critical to real life RN experience and not the plot. It is a show. I am a nurse as well and seriously it is not bad. Perhaps your looking to deep. Just take a moment grab a glass of you favorite beverage alcoholic or virgin, your favorite meal, put your feet up, chillax and try again. You might feel differently.
Fantastic news. This has been my favorite new show, and I feel really great for Jada.
