Michael Jackson’s mother, Katherine, was granted custody today of the singer’s three children by a Los Angeles judge. A family allowance will be paid for out of Michael’s estate. Deborah Rowe, the mother of Michael’s two eldest children, will have visitation rights. Katherine Jackson attended the hearing with her children, Randy and LaToya.

I don’t think this is what Michael would have wanted at all. Katherine will see to it that his kids will be raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses, which is something he absolutely rejected for most of his adult life. Who gives an 80-something year old woman custody of young children? Wasn’t there ANYONE else standing up for these children? Very sad.

Apparently Michael Jackson trusted his mother more than anyone else. You ask who gives an elderly woman custody. Michael Jackson, for one. She is one in the family who has displayed a modest reasonable public persona. Who else of MJ’s family and associates would be better? Perhaps they should have been put into California’s foster kids system? Oh, yeah, that would be better. Give it a rest.
Who really believes that this is a good idea? All of the Jackson children are mentally ill because they were raised by this woman and their abusive father. I feel so sad for these children, they’re doomed to have unhappy lives.
Katherine didn’t force her children to become Jehovah’s Witnesses. In fact, only three became Witnesses: Rebbie, LaToya, and Michael. LaToya and Michael eventually left. Besides Michael absolutely adored his mother. His issue was with his father, who won’t be raising the kids. Janet did ask to take the kids (Any of the siblings save LaToya would actually be okay.), but she wasn’t mentioned in the will and at the moment doesn’t have a leg to stand on, at least until Katherine passes and Debbie Rowe needs someone else to raise the kids.
Michael always blamed a huge part of his unhappiness as a child on the austere upbringing by his parents under the Jehovah Witness Tenets – no birthdays, no Christmas, no holidays of any kind. They may not have been “forced” to comply with the faith once they were adults, but they sure as heck were when they were minors. It was something Michael ALWAYS rejected, and he’d hate for his children to live that way now.
It is MJ who named his mother as the guardian for the children in his will. It is good that it was settled without a trial which would have been traumatic for the children.
Michael originally named Diana Ross as legal guardian of his kids (without her knowledge) and said if she didn’t want to step up, his mother was next in line.
Robine, actually it was the other way. Mom was granted custody with Diana as back-up in case Mom died.
Michael Jackson is not as stupid as some people seem to suggest. He knew very well that his mother was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, and he would expect her to raise his kids up properly, according to her standards. And despite that, he still insisted not only that she was the legal guardian, but that she was also the principal beneficiary to his estate. So I am sure this is exactly what he wanted. Why dont we leave the family busines for the Jacksons to take care of, and mind our own? The entire Jackson family is in support of Katherine having custody.
I think everyone have their opinion on how the kids should be raised I think the right person have the kids I would want my mother with mine thats the only person I trust I wouldn’t care if she was 105 years old on the way I was raised a mothers love will always be there no matter how the public feel he was abused as a child he always stayed in touch with the family let him rest it don’t matter what the religion is as long as GOD is in their life.
