Confirming published reports from last week, Fox has officially announced that American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi will be back for the show’s ninth season. “She is a breath of fresh air, and her passion for music and her understanding of talent is invaluable,” said Idol creator/exec producer Simon Fuller in a statement; Fuller praised DioGuardi for championing runner-up Adam Lambert. The new season of Idol is set to begin filming Aug. 6.

EXACTLY! The show, it seemed to me, wanted to do everything in its power to make sure Adam won.
During auditions, she seemed more adamant than the others in letting Adam through. Note that the others were saying No to Adam. She was just more animated about it. See the audition.

Absolutely NO ONE wants that airhead back. As a judge she is nothing but a waste of space. And they bring her back. What the %$@# is their problem???

News is not so much with the good.
I watched last season, the only time I watched an entire season of Idol since season 1 and I watched IN SPITE of her presence. She is downright annoying. If Paula doesn’t come back. I WON’T WATCH NEXT YEAR.
Losing touch with your audience is the first sign of decline. In a year or two the producers will see her as the Yoko Ono of AI, but by then it will be too late. Thanks for ruining the show we loved, Fuller (and Kara for accepting).
At least she is sober during the show. Can’t say the same for Paula.

I watched last season, and I never thought Paula seemed totally sober. She’s always inarticulate. Is that just her personality, even sober?
Yeah but Drunk Paula is still more entertaining and informative than Vapid Kara.
She was the most annoying part of the show last season.
Can’t stand Kara—doesn’t mesh well with the rest of the judges. If Paula isn’t back next year, I won’t watch. Oh, and the way the AI machine pimped out Adam Lambert over everybody else was just gross.

The way they kept acting like an Adam/Danny finale was a foregone conclusion WAS pretty gross. It was like they were assuming the viewers would just blindly do what they wanted.

The judges do this every year, so why does it even matter. I liked Adam by CHOICE, just as others chose to like others by CHOICE. No judge tried persuade me to think otherwise. Don’t be sour because people liked him and his talent, people do have a right to choose who they want to like and support.
