George Lopez's late-night show debuts Nov. 9

Categories: Television

TBS announced Nov. 9 as the launch date of Lopez Tonight, the new evening talk show hosted by comedian George Lopez, Variety is reporting. The show will occupy an 11 p.m. (ET) time slot, effectively putting Lopez on the air after Jay Leno, but a half-hour before David Letterman on CBS and Conan O'Brien on NBC. Despite concerns about going up against such well-established competition, Lopez says he does not believe the other hosts will detract from his own drawing power, and that his status as a minority could create more long-term opportunities for overall ethnic diversity in television.

'The Lorax' becomes latest Dr. Seuss story to get 3D treatment

Call it a 3D film with a "green" theme. Thanks to a joint venture between Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment, the tale of The Lorax is about to become not only the latest motion picture version of a Dr. Seuss tale, but the first one to be told in a 3D format. Though there is no immediate word on what vocal talent will be attached to the pic, Variety is reporting that the high-tech animated feature will be directed by Chris Renaud, Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio. Originally released as a children's book in 1971, The Lorax is about a money-hungry businessman who –despite pleas from a tree-loving creature– strips a forest bare and leaves nothing behind for the native wildlife. The flick is already being tentatively slated for release on March 2, 2012. That's happens to be the birthday of Theodor S. Geisel (aka Dr. Seuss), who died in 1991.

'The Wolf Man' now set to howl in 2010

Categories: Movie Biz, Movies

As per EW.com’s Nicole Sperling: Has The Wolf Man turned into a horror film for Universal Pictures? The studio announced Tuesday that it will again postpone the release of the remake –starring Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt and Anthony Hopkins– this time from Nov. 6 to Feb. 12 next year. Producer Scott Stuber insists the date change is no sign of a creatively-troubled production, but rather a marketing decision meant to take advantage of a three-day holiday weekend. Time will tell which is true. Meanwhile, you can check out the new trailer for The Wolf Man when it takes a bow in theaters before screenings of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds in two weeks.
