John Goodman joins Ben Stiller's Fox comedy pilot 'The State'

Variety reports that John Goodman has signed on to star in The Station, a Ben Stiller-produced comedy pilot for Fox about hapless CIA agents in South America who are instructed to install a new dictator. Goodman will play a veteran CIA agent. David Wain (Role Models) will direct the pilot.

New KISS album set for early October

Heavy-metal news site Blabbermouth.net reports that the next KISS album is set to debut in early October. The title for the disc wasn't revealed, but some song names include, "Russian Roulette," "Modern Day Delilah," and "Stand."

Madonna stage accident: A second worker dies

A second person has died after a stage being erected for an upcoming Madonna concert collapsed at the Velodrome in Marseilles, France, according to the AP. A British worker died today from injuries sustained in the accident, following the immediate death of a French worker yesterday. Eight other injuries are being reported, including one American. Madonna has canceled her performance in Marseilles, which was scheduled for Sunday as part of her Sticky and Sweet tour. No reason for the accident has yet been reported. 

"My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news," Madonna said in a statement issued by her representative, Liz Rosenberg, according to CNN.

'The Office' star Ed Helms heads to 'Cedar Rapids' with new film

Ed Helms — star of NBC's The Office and summer box-office smash The Hangover — has picked his next project: He'll appear in Cedar Rapids, a comedy produced by Sideways director Alexander Payne, according to Variety. The report says that Helms' character is set to be a "sad-sack insurance agent who goes to an industry convention to try to save the jobs of his colleagues."

'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' snags $100 million worldwide on opening day

The magical spell Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is casting at the box office keeps on bringing in great returns: In terms of worldwide ticket sales, the latest Potter flick — the series' sixth film — jumped past the $100 million in its first 24 hours, according to a report in Variety. The movie pulled in $58.2 million domestically and $45.9 million internationally to rack up a total of $104 million, which is the franchise's best start ever. The Wednesday night opening of the movie broke records in the U.S. when it grossed $22.2 million alone for its midnight runs.

'Passion of the Christ' actor James Caviezel injured in motorcycle accident

Passion of the Christ actor James Caviezel suffered cuts and bruises when a man hurled a bicycle into the path of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle Thursday in Washington state, according to a report by the Associated Press. The 40-year-old actor was wearing a helmet and taken to a nearby hospital but no further information about his release or current condition was included in the report.

Michael Jackson autopsy report delayed two weeks

The Los Angeles Coroner's Office says Michael Jackson's full autopsy report will not be available for two more weeks, according to the AP. The report, which will include toxicology information that could determine what drugs were in the singer's system when he died on June 25 and whether they caused his death, was initially expected to be ready by the end of this week or early next. The coroner did not give a reason for the delay. Los Angeles law enforcement is preparing for the possibility thatMichael Jackson's death could turn into a criminal case, pendingresults of the coroner's official report.

'Harry Potter' actor Jamie Waylett confesses to growing pot

Teen actor Jamie Waylett, who plays Vincent Crabbe in the Harry Potter movies, admitted to growing marijuana in a London court, the AP reports. Police reportedly found eight bags of pot during a search of a car in which the 19-year-old Waylett was riding. By pleading guilty to producing cannabis, Waylett faces a maximum of 14 years in jail. He's due to be sentenced on July 21.

Orlando Bloom's Los Angeles house robbed

Police were called to investigate a potential robbery of Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom's Los Angeles residence. The Los Angeles Times reports that thieves stole about $500,000 in jewelry, cash, and artwork and that the suspects were clearly familiar with the secluded home, according to sources. Bloom was not home during the incident.

Set your DVRs: Tori Spelling has been tapped to guest host the fourth hour of NBC's Today with Kathie Lee Gifford from Monday, July 20 to Wednesday, July 22. Gifford's usual cohort, Hoda Kotb, has the week off. Spelling, formerly of Beverly Hills, 90210, now stars in Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, a reality show on NBC's sister channel Oxygen.
