Brilliant analysis…you should quit your day job and become a critic immediately.

What, you just came here to provoke nerd rage? Nevermind, then.

I want to believe that it jut occurred to them, “Hey, if we recast this, it’ll suck!”

  • Squishfish

Fox, the idea of recasting the voices was so terrible I think you gave me cancer

Excellent news! While attending this year’s ComicCon, I actually got into the habit of thinking “NO!” whenever I saw any cool Futurama merchandise, since I wasn’t about to support the show without its amazing voice talent. Let the Bender bottle openers and Zoidberg lobster bibs pour forth! I’m buyin’ again!

    HOORAY! I CAN’T WAIT!

what do they mean by “The call has already gone out to the animators to put the mouths back on the characters”

  • TvTroz

@Yogurt: So you think that Futurama is totally disconnected with current life?
@dan: They were making a funny, man. Just move on along. Maybe you and Yogurt should hang out. Something tells me the two of you get the same kinds of jokes.

The Simpsons hasn’t been amusing in years. They ran out of ideas about 5-6 years ago and are just doing variations of prior episodes or just phoning in the episodes to keep the cash cow on life support.

As for Futurama, so I guess absent from the list above are Phil LaMarr and Lauren Tom…so no Hermes or Amy in future eps or are they hiring new people to do the voices? I really want the whole cast back…I might settle for the main ones…but I’d like to see everybody continue with this show.

Ben, I’m pretty sure that Lauren Tom and Phil LaMarr were never going to be replaced in the first place. When they first broke the news that they were going to recast the roles, those two actors (and their respective characters, Amy and Hermes) were not on that list. So I’m guessing Fox never had any issue with the two of them from the beginning. So the whole cast should be present, which will be awesome!

IT’S A RECESSION. I’m sure those greedy actors decided working at minimum was better than nothing.

shut up – studio execs make 50 times what most actors make. THEY are the greedy ones

  • Brian

I’m glad that the show will continue and I’m more pleased that most of the original voices will be back.

fred Garvin makes a good point though (albeit the ‘greedy’ part is really an unknown at this point). If the studios get less ad money, so goes it for everyone down the line if they want to keep working, just like any other sector.

Actually, it’s the Simpsons that isn’t funny. Hasn’t been for about 15 years now. The movie was decent though.

I’m glad. I wouldn’t have watched it if other people were doing the voices.
