As if they didn’t have enough award-winning material already on the air, the folks at FX have nailed down yet another promising original series, Lawman. The cable network has placed a 13 episode order of the Western drama, in which Deadwood actor Timothy Olyphant will star as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, a 19th century enforcement officer raised in the grit of rural Kentucky by an outlaw father. Based on the original short story Fire In The Hole by famed crime novelist Elmore Leonard (Get Shorty, Out of Sight) and developed by Graham Yost (Boomtown, Speed), Lawman is set to premiere on FX in spring 2010. Much of the show’s pilot was shot in Pittsburgh and Miami, with the remainder of the production set in Southern California beginning in fall 2009.

YES!!!! Timothy Olyphant!!!!!! I really can’t wait!!!
Good actor. And this sounds like my kinda show, especially if it’s Elmore Leonard
So delighted Olyphant will get the better profile he deserves.
Very happy for Timothy and his new series however, he needs to come back to Damages as Wes Krulik and finalize his character. It will be interesting to see how the writers accomplish this scenario.
