Fox TV refuses to air 'Family Guy' abortion episode

Tags:

The folks at Fox TV are choosing to say “no” to an already-controversial-yet-unaired episode of its hit animated series The Family Guy. The Hollywood Reporter has the latest on 20th TV’s statement about the episode in question –titled “Partial Terms of Endearment”– which has already been the subject of heavy debate in the blogosphere, especially after the show's creator Seth McFarlane made some rather pointed remarks about the episode, adding that he did not believe it would ever air.

Hardly surprising. Guess the’re afraid an Anti-abortionist will kill someone in order to save a cartoon fetus.

My outrage on this is obliterated by my complete lack of surprise. Of course they weren’t going to air it. Even McFarlane seemed pretty blasé about it. Although since accepting a $100 million contract with a studio pretty much negates your ability to make claims of being in any way subversive or to whine when they tell you what to do, he probably chose the right tack. So. Meh.

i think we should be shocked about this censorship not about the subject of the episode

I’m outraged…I’m never watching this show again. Wait a minute I don’t watch this show now.

I agree with FOX making the decision to not air this episode. Now if they would just consider not airing ANY “Family Guy” episodes. American entertainment is dumb and lowbrow enough as it is. “Family Guy” just makes it worse–WAY worse.

The thing is, they’ve let F.G get away with far worse. The Holocaust episode, the Gay Gene episode, the Jesus episode, and more.
Abortion is a hot topic, but FOX hasn’t stepped in yet to pull an episode.

It’s called comedy people. They take a real issue, explore it, play with it, tease out the real issues and then make it a joke. If you really dislike Family Guy then stop complaining and go read a book. Enough people enjoy the show to have it brought back on the air, your quibbles about content and controversial matters are ridiculous. They are out there, there’s no reason to censor them.

i think people get too offended sometimes. if your offended by the program dont watch it. This episode was aired on BBC3 over here in the UK and there was no outrage because people who dont like it dont watch it simple as that
