Ken Warwick, executive producer of American Idol, has signed a three-year, reportedly eight-figure deal with co-producer FremantleMedia North America to remain as showrunner for the megahit singing competition, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Warwick became Idol’s sole executive producer when Nigel Lythgoe left the show last summer, and exercised his solo power by making alterations to the Idol format like upping the number of contestants from 24 to 36 and reestablishing the wild-card round.
