Nicolas Cage in talks for role in 'Green Hornet'

Categories: Movie Biz, News

Nicolas Cage is in early negotiations to play the gangster villain opposite Seth Rogen's Green Hornet in the forthcoming superhero flick directed by Michel Gondry, Variety reports. Cameron Diaz is in talks to play Rogen's love interest. The movie starts filming in November, though the studio is still working to replace Stephen Chow, who was originally slated to play sidekick Kato. The Green Hornet is set for release next summer.

Great! The worst actor and actress in the world!!! I’ll pass.

  • Space Cruiser

So, now, it will be a bad comedy….I will pass on this and even if it ever hits a walmart $2 bin, I will continue to pass.

I don’t understand what the draw of Nic Cage is. I’ll find something else to do the weekend it opens…like wash my hair or something!

  • Hmmm

I love judging a movie that hasn’t even been made yet!

    One word….NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

At least I like this casting announcement.

Stella- you are absolutely right. Once upon a time Nicolas Cage was viewed as a renegade actor- a very gritty guy, willing to go anywhere with a character. It won him an Oscar. And then it was like he became a pod person. Most actors do awful movies on the way up to get to that point, Nic reversed it and said, now that I have made it, I am going to START doing bad movies! I truly do not get this guy’s career choices. And what he had of his talent, it was like he just threw it away.

I’m sure he’ll do a GREAT job like he did in Ghost Rider.
    (EXTREME SARCASM ALERT^^^)

Ew. Why not someone young and hot? Green Hornet, Green Arrow, Underdog; at what point do they figure out that outside of Spiderman, Batman and Superman, nobody cares?

  • Rob Grizzly

I’d rather have Nic Cage as the Green Hornet than Seth Rogen. Please anyone but Seth Rogen!!!
on another note, how about Ernie Reyes Jr for Kato? Wicked fighter.

  • Odie

Cage does a better bad guy than a good guy so im happy with this bit of casting….

  • Brody

Sounds like Rogen is planning to do ALL of the heavy lifting, talent-wise, because Nic Cage and Cameron Diaz are both one-note wonders.

Seth Rogen as “The Green Hornet”,Nicolas Cage as the villain opposite Seth Rogen as “The Green Hornet”,Cameron Diaz as the love interest for Seth Rogen who again will be “The Green Hornet”….and while we’re at it,I have some prime real-estate located in “The Lost City Of Atlantis” exclusively for those individuals who actually think this movie has a gasoline covered snowballs chance in HELL!

  • Jean Genie

I don’t know about this … Seth may be a hot brand at the moment, but I’m afraid this movie may be more Speed Racer than Iron Man. JMO …

  • Julie

Well I will be skipping this movie. None of the above mentioned 3 interest me.

  • Mike

His talent has receded just like this hair line, if he signs on this is a straight to DVD crapfest….

  • Todd

Just when it seemed this movie couldn’t possibly be any worse. I am actually thinking this could join “Showgirls” and “Torque,” two of my favorite “So bad, it’s good” movies. I understand why Rogen wants to do this sort of thing, but he’s really ill-advised to do so. He should stick with the rom-coms.

Ugh barf!! Since Nick Cage won an Oscar his acting has been crap, except for “Adaptation”.

  • jeff

I know Seth Rogen helped cowrite the script, but he’s a horrible choice for the Green Hornet. Do you know who would be great: Nathan Fillion of “firefly” and “castle”.
Some guy even made a decent fake trailer – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hTiRnqnvDs

Please for the love of God, NOOOOO!!!!

The Green Hornet is supposed to be sleek, suave and sexy. How does Seth Rogen qualify as any of those?
