Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince conjured a record-breaking $396.7 million in global box office over its five-day opening weekend, according to a Reuters report. That figure — including $159.7 million in the U.S. and a whopping $237 million in international gross across 84 markets — tops Spider-Man 3's worldwide opening record of $381.7 million, set in 2007.

awesome!!!!
It deserves it!!!!
I’m not surprised. I expect it to continue to do well as people return for the 2nd & 3rd time. Although it has a sad ending, I enjoyed the 2 and a half hours spent watching “old friends” do what they have come to do so well.
Well considering Spider Man 3 SUCKED, it’s no surprise.
I’m surprised that Dark Knight wasn’t the one to slay the Spider

HARRY ROCKS! Go see HBP Now! Then go see Public Enemies – the best movie of the year – woo hoo!
This is great! Harry Potter is King! Such a global phenomenon. Glad to see that a GOOD movie tops the chart, instead of Spiderman 3. I guess The Dark Knight just doesn’t have the same global appeal. Plus, TDK is not a family friendly film, so it just didn’t have as mass an appeal as HP.

I really heart Harry, but to me the half blood prince was the worst of all the movies. It just changed so much and added things that were not needed. I wanted more of the Dumblerdore/Harry conversations of how to destroy Voldemort and also that they ommitted Dumblerdore’s funeral was criminal. A big thumbs down from me.
So much for following through on those *boycott WB* threats nine months ago, eh Potter fans? None of you have the permission to ridicule Gary Susman anymore for saying a boycott against HP: Half-Blood Prince was pointless. WB played you guys exactly how they wanted. Don’t be surprised if more studios adopt this strategy in the future.
Nothing against the film itself and the hundreds of people who developed it, but after reading the collective scorn from fanboys, I’m amused over how all that anger resulted in nothing but flourishing box office returns from a studio many of you claimed were greedy. Some rebellion.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was, I believe, the greatest thus far. Since the first movie came out I have learned to not go into the movie expecting the same as the book. the movies were made to be based on the books but not exactly like them so book fans have to stop complaining. not everything is going to be the same.
The sixth film in the Harry Potter film series, ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ is a huge box office hit. Harry Porter’s magic broke the records for biggest midnight opening and biggest single-day worldwide gross of all time.

AWESOME!! Im not suprised. It’s a BRILLIANT film and it’s freakin’ HARRY POTTER!! I’ve already seen it 4 times and I can’t wait to see it in Imax. Only July 29th…those numbers are going to skyrocket because so many people are waiting for Imax.
