Robert De Niro, Jonah Hill signed for Robert Rodriguez's 'Machete'?

Filed under: News and tagged: ,

Web rumors have been circulating online today about Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jonah Hill joining Robert Rodriguez’s Machete feature. Are they true? Well, a rep for DeNiro says “nothing is firm yet” between the actor and the project, but Hill’s rep flat-out denied the casting rumor altogether, labeling it “erroneous.” Likewise, Eleonora Avellan, an exec at Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios, said, “I don’t know where they’re coming from with that [casting information].” Avellan confirms to EW that the Machete project — based on a fake trailer (embedded below, NSFW) about a Mexican mercenary in 2007’s Grindhouse — is slated for 2010, but adds, “We’re still in development. Robert is working on the screenplay now.”
Nevertheless, EW talked to an inside source involved with the project who added into the casting rumor mix Lindsay Lohan and Steven Seagal, whose rep tells EW, “We are awaiting news” about the movie. (Reps for Lohan and Michelle Rodriguez have not yet responded to EW’s queries about the project.)
The one bit of casting that does seem certain is star Danny Trejo, of whom even Avellan says, “Without him, I don’t think there’s a Machete.”

What’s with running the headline of DeNiro and Hill? Most people don’t know Hill by name at all. Would have been better to run with ROBERT DENIRO and MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ, who are actual name actors with huge fanbases. Anyway, can’t say I’m disappointed that the Hill bit is wrong.
I just hope Lohan is an error too. I’m down with Rodriguez and Segal and obviously DeNiro but the rest I can live without.

Seagal really? Can Rodriguez even afford Seagal? Some dude posted on a blog a few months ago that Seagal charges (no s*&$) a million a week. Don’t ask me how he can command a paycheck like that considering all his movies are direct to dvd and they all suck. Apparently he won’t look at a script or meet anyone unless he is guaranteed a million a week and his agent is supposedly a sketchy dude. And Seagal was blaming the FBI for ruining his career. hahaha. So if Seagal worked on a “movie” for 3 weeks, he would earn the same as GARY OLDMAN did for dark knight which he did over a few months. Gary Oldman and one of the biggest movies ever. Seagal and direct to dvd. Life is weird.

If Rodriguez can get Seagal, that would be inspired casting. Rodriguez is well known for attracting big names and doing ensembles! This would be a pretty good comeback opportunity for Seagal; like Van Damme with “JCVD” and Stallone with “Rocky” and “Rambo”. This could make up for Seagal’s missed opportunity to join Sly’s, “The Expendables” (citing bad blood with producer Avi Lerner). I’m all for it! I sure hope he gets on board!

lol. Seagal makes a million a week. He should be paying a million a week to be in movies. His movies are horrible. How can anyone pay him a million a week for that crap.

if all of the rumors are true EXCEPT lindsay lohan and steven seagal, this movie will be great. Please no steven seagal nor lindsay lohan…seagal’s a better fit for the expendables and lohan just sucks
