Disney has found a new starring vehicle for Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus: The company snatched rights to the young adult novel Wings and has plans to develop the title around Cyrus, according to Variety. The story, originally written by Aprilynee Pike, will revolve around Cyrus playing Laurel, a 15-year-old girl who grows up home-schooled in a small town before heading off to a large high school. There, she realizes she's unlike the other kids, as she sprouts a pair of wings and realizes she's a fairy. The book was originally published in May and is planned to be just the beginning of a four-title series. Cyrus is currently shooting The Last Song, an adaptation of the novel Nicholas Sparks wrote.

Oh that “Wings”, I didn’t if Cyrus was remaking the 20’s oscar winner or the 90’s sitcom that starred Tim Daly. Or maybe she was playing Linda McCartney.
It sounds cute, and Miley did a great job in the Hannah Montana Movie, so I can’t see anything wrong with it.

Very similar to Disney’s Luck of the Irish and The Thirteenth Year where teenagers realize they are “mythical” creatures. Doesn’t any one in Hollywood have an original idea anymore?

i am going to laugh when the last song bombs, no one takes this hick and her f’d up teeth seriously except for tweens and Disney that caters to the tween crowd. Once the tweens grow up and get a clue and a brain, nobody will care and Disney will have 1,000’s other prettier, cuter, younger and more talented young girls waiting int he wings…no pun intended. Hopefully the next Hannah Montana clone they christen will actually be able to sing and act.

That is exactly what i think too!! i read the book cuz ma friend lended it to meh. When she told meh miley wuz gonna do it, i was totally bumed cuz Laurel is so different from her. I m afraid she will do a bad job acting as Laurel!

Okay, Joe, you are stupid. this book isn’t by Disney people, so obviously it doesn’t have anything to do with those movies. And I agree, anyone who has read the book knows that Cyrus is just going to ruin the whole movie.
You are so right. This is an amazing book that would be a great movie if they didn’t stick Miley in it! There are so many other people out there who could do a much better job. I don’t even know if I’ll see the movie now!

Okay! Im reading he book right now and I heard they were making a movie!! So i looked online and there is NOOOO WAYYYY that Miley is going to be Laurel!! First off, laurel has BLONDE hair and miley is just not good.. i know this person who would be AWESOMEE to play the part but she isn’t an actress!! THIS IS SOOOOOO NOT COOL!!

Of all people why miley? i don’t have anything against her,she is talented, but seriously, Wings is one of my favorite books, i can’t imagine her playing the role of laurel… it just ughh… bleh. :’( but if disney bought the rights and they’re about to film it, theres nothing to be done then. I hope she doesn’t mess up as laurel.Good luck Miley.
