Not a movie that most HP book fans will go to see more than 1x. It’s too frustrating to watch! I understand they wanted the movie to appeal to a broader base, but they sacrificed the fans in doing so. The fans are those who would have gone to see this movie many times, had it been good. While the opening weekend will be huge, it will never be in the same league as Dark Night simply b/c it won’t have the repeat viewers. This is a classic “what were they thinking?” moment.
I’m sick of people saying that if you read the books and are a fan of Harry poter you won’t like it, that’s not true. I don’t know how mny times I have read the books and I enjoyed this movie. I feel it is the best one yet of the series.
@Charlene, I’m on my way to see it for a third time. I understand that is a adaptation and I’m able to separate the movie from the books. I felt that they captured the essence of the book. They might not have showed the memories but, they did show the hocruxes and I felt that they explained them well in the movie. The parts people are complaining about can easily be intertwined in the next movie. I felt that this movie set up Deathly Hallows nicely.
i thought the movie was awful! The first half of the movie stayed relatively true to the book but after harry took the felix felicus it went downhill fast. i feel that they altered the charecters making dumbledore seem ignorant and harry a coward. They also left out a huge fight scene at the end of the movie and they bypassed the whole funeral scene. so instead of being emotionally upset by dumbledores death i was just really mad. They also left out a ton of stuff that they need for the next movie like dobey’s role and bill and fleur and bill being attacked by greyback in the ending fight that they left out and they left harry with no clues as to what the other horcruxes might be. Overall they made a bad movie both from a following the book standpoint and from a cinematic standpoint. They are going to have a hard time making the next two movies worthwhile having left all that stuff out. And ones thing for sure i wont be waiting in line for the midnight showing for the next one.
I’m a huge fan of the books, and though the movie strayed a great deal from the novel, I still thought it was fantastic. They’re going to change things to fit the movie and appeal to a wider audience. You have to get used to it and enjoy the movie as a movie, not as a big-screen version of the book.
There’s only one legitimate place I’ve found to watch it, the rest seem like scams :-/ You can see it over here though: http://jjpeg.com/watch28015.html
It takes a minute to load but after that it’s good to go
Loved the movie..didnt expect it to stick to the book. Only thing I missed is the explaination of what the Hocruxes could be, an important piece of the book was Dumbeldore explaining what Tom Riddle aka the dark lord could have used to hide his soul, and how difficult it is to destroy them. This unfortunately was not conveyed, and makes it difficult to explain in the rest of the movie or it might be forced through. I think this part of the book and the next is about the search and destruction of the Hocruxes and the movie didnt touch on it sufficiently.
Great movie all in all..
I LIKED THE MOVIE, HOWEVER PUTTING IN PARTS THAT WILL NOT MAKE ANY SINCE IN THE NEXT MOVIE WAS NOT THE WAY TO MAKE THE MOVIE. SURE THE MOVIE WAS GREAT BUT THE DETAILS THAT WERE LEFT OUT IS GOING TO CONFUSE PEOPLE. IT DIDN’T EVEN FEEL LIKE A HARRY POTTER MOVIE. LEAVING OUT THE ENDING FIGHT SEAN WAS THE WRONG WAY TO END THAT MOVIE AND NOT HAVING THE FUNERAL WAS JUST WRONG. NOW, WHEN THE NEXT ONE STARTS THERE IS NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE THREE FRIENDS ARE NOT GOING BACK TO SCHOOL. THIS ONE NEEDS TO BE RE-DONE AND DONE CORRECTLY THIS TIME. I WILL STILL BUY THIS MOVIE AND SEE IT A FEW MORE TIMES AT THE THEATERS, BUT IT STILL NEEDS TO BE RE-DONE.
Loved the movie!
Its kicking as* at the box office!
This movie looked absolutely beautiful. The artistic direction was the best of any HP film so far.
The acting was much improved, especially Tom Felton’s work, a key to this film.
Emma Watson’s delivery of the “opugno” was startling and effecive. At that moment, Hermonie was at least as frigitning, and much more real, than Voldemort will ever be. Also, later, when Hermione takes Ron’s hand, as he is lying in bed, cursed, the looks that cross her face, looks of pure love, of a kind of redemption even, are very moving. Miss Watson is becoming a wonderful actress.
Rupert Grint has always had a comic gift and it shines here. And Dan, well how can you not love Dan?
That said, the film was very disappointing. Someone, either Mr. Yates or Mr. Klovis, or both, should be ashamed of themselves. To have gotten such good work from so many people and still have produced a film that fails even to tell a coherent story is a missed opportunity of monumental proportions.
