Wow… I thought we’d see a 3rd “Bridget” book before this ever happened. Helen Fielding, where’d you go?

  • Ceballos

I read somewhere they were thinking of going with “Bridget Jones: Zellwegger Needs a Hit BADLY!”
Kind of a mouthful I think.

  • BJohnson

    Why?
    That’s all I have. Sorry.

  • a person

which Jane Austin novel will they base this one off of?

  • Linda

Ok, this definetely falls under movie franchises that should stop…

Start eating those carbs Renee! :-)

you better start eating those carbs, Renee! :-)

Trust Hollywood to take a funny movie, make a profit, and then beat the movie in to the ground with sequel after sequel because they’re too lazy to come up with an original concept if one made money before

    Funny

The second movie was superfluous, and made a mockery of our beloved Bridget. I really hope these executives come to realize how bad an idea this is, but the probably won’t.

wow – the 2nd movie was not good, but if Colin Firth is back, I’ll watch this one (pretty tired of Renee, though).

  • GS

I hope they make it better than The Edge of Reason. I loved the first one but they made her too frumpy and plain in the second one and she was just ridiculous. But I LOVE Colin Firth so I’ll be watching it. There is just something about him. And how did Bridget get to be in her 40’s? She was 33 in the last movie!

  • fan123

Pleeease no Beban Kidron in the director’s chair for this one… she ruined what was, actually, a funny and touching follow up (the book anyway)by making it ridiculous and unbelievable and way toooo over the top.

  • Zo

Madly in love with the first movie… the second, not so much. (Although I loved the book, actually!) Yeah, as long as Colin Firth is back, I’m in. And GoodGodAbove, Renee needs to put a bit of weight on!!! She’s been a pogo stick with clothes lately…

  • Sharon

I wish Helen Fielding would write another book. She didn’t and I just missed it, right?

  • Josie

UGH. This is not a movie I’d be willing to see. Why, Why, Why? There is no reason for this movie to be made, none at all. I guess Renee figured this was the only way to get a job without resorting to porn.

  • Samsara

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I absolutely love the first Bridget Jones – thought Renee was delightful as BJ. Second movie – not so much. Renee exaggerated Bridget to a distracting degree and Renee just looked “off”. Please leave well enough alone. Nothing can ever come close to the first book and movie.

NO! Bridget Jones 2 was quite terrible. Let the memory of the first great movie remain and stop now!!

This always happens when a movie star…star starts to tank. They want to rehash a character from an earlier big hit. The first Bridget Jones was the best. Colin Firth never looked better especially that scene in the kitchen before Bridget’s friends came over for her birthday. He looked so shy and sweet. Gawd that man is fine. To quote Jack (from 30 rock) “That man can wear sweaters” The second one sucked though I can understand Bridget staring at him while he slept. NO NEW BRIDGET JONES!

I am more than a bit surprised that they would attempt a 3rd BJ movie. The first was fabulous…the second was tolerable. While I love Colin Firth in ANYTHING and love to hate Hugh Grant’s character of Daniel Cleaver, I feel that Renee played a caricature of Bridget in the second movie. Bridget was not endearing anymore, she was just plainly pathetic.

  • mlkramer

NOOOOOOO!!!! Renee Zellweger killed the second movie playing a bad, bad parody of Bridget Jones of the first movie! It was obvious Firth and Grant thought the movie script and premise awful… it came through loud and clear on the screen. Please NO! Don’t ruin my fond memories of BJD.

  • mimi

They’re going to have to clean house of those characters. If she’s still got those same stupid, three friends coaching her through her life at 40, and the slime-ball Daniel Cleaver slobbering all over her neck while looking at every other woman in the room, then I give up. Mr Darcy is my fantasy, too, but let’s face it, he could use a backbone. To me, the second movie looked like they tried to recycle footage left on the cutting room floor after the first movie. That kind of lame effort screams money grab.

  • Sandy

YES YES YES, I frankly have been dying for a 3rd BJD movie. I am trying to find info if Colin Firth will play in it once again. I think the idea od him being a daddy, or trying to be, is totally sweet and dreamy against Bridget’s totally wacked out character. I love love loved the 1st movie, you are right tthe 2nd was eh..ok, but then again we’d already seen movie #1 so it wasnt new and fresh now was it? I frankly can’t wait, and who says RZ is tanking…I wish I had the money she’s made on her wonderful movies and the lifestyle she gets to lead in her “tanked” life. Im sure its wonderful. If I were a “tanked” actress of her standing I’d still be in a better place than a few of the people writing on here.

I have both Bridget Jones movies, have watched them numerous times with enjoyment but I think it is enough. It ended on a happy note and let it stay that way. I believe I’ve read Colin Firth isn’t thrilled with starting another Bridget Jones movie. Can’t we all move on?

  • Sue H.

Yes, But ONLY if Colin Firth reprises Mark Darcy. Otherwise what’s the point. I agree completely that the first movie was fantastic, and the second subpar and pitiful. A third if done properly,(that is with a love, understanding and repect of the characters, Bridget & MD), has potential to be quite delightful. The idea of Briget trying to get pregnat in her 40’s (w/MD)is, and should be bittersweet. To me one of the most endearing things about the Helen Fieldings Briget Jones universe is the homage to Pride & Prejudice, and Mr. Darcy in particluar. In the first movie the love story between Bridget & MD hit exactly the right note for a romantic comedy, and the love triangle was very funny. The first movie was done so well, I didn’t mind any of the alterations to the book. I hope for Rene’s sake, this one won’t be like the Edge of Reason.

  • Tanaya

YES,YES!!!!! I would love another movie with all the original cast!!

  • Connie Herrera

Yay!!!! I love the Bridget Jones Movies. I think they were both great! Funny. Rene Zellweger is hilarious. They needed to make one last one. Can’t wait to see it. I hope they will have another fight scene betwee Colin Firth and Hugh Grant, hilarious!!!!
