NBC has pushed the debut of its new drama series Parenthood from Sept. 23 to sometime midseason (typically November to February) due to an unspecified medical matter involving star Maura Tierney, 44, according to a statement NBC released July 10. The show, which is based on the 1989 movie starring Steve Martin, was scheduled to begin production on July 27, but its start date has been pushed back eight weeks due to a "medical evaluation that Tierney is undergoing."
Parenthood depicts the relationship between four siblings (Tierney, Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, and Dax Shepard) and their parents (Craig T. Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia). The new medical drama Mercy will take Parenthood's spot this fall.
NBC would not comment on the nature of Tierney's illness. A rep for the ER actress had no comment.

Hope Tierney’s okay. Looking forward to her in a lighter role. That said, this is a big blow to NBC, which had pegged this as a bellcow type of show, probably it’s number one draft pick of the new shows.
And this is also the same show where a production exec died on the set during the pilot’s filming.

Hope Maura’s OK, she was great on ER… Also wondering if the move of Mercy will keep Michelle Trachtenberg from reprising her role as Georgina on Gossip Girl. Hopefully she’ll have time for both.
I love Peter Krause, i like Maura Tierney and Bonnie Bedelia and i really enjoyed Parenthood the movie…but it’s strange i am not really interested by this show. It’s looks a lot like Brothers and sisters and we have enough with that..and i really don’t like Dax Shepard..i don’t know his face is too scary (and i love unconventionnaly good looking guys) but him he is not unconventionnaly he is just creepy creepy..a bad vibe for me and above all he is not a good actor..why casted him seriously ??
I hope Maura is ok anyway.
While I hope she gets better soon, I have one word for this hole in NBC’s schedule:

I’ve loved Peter in Sports Night, Maura in NewsRadio and Dax in Life with Bonnie so I’m looking forward to the show. Of course, NBC will cancel it after the first season.

Ron Howard’s Parenthood is a GREAT film. This was lready made into a tv series in the 90’s Im really loking forward to it. Its hard not to wonder about Maura Tierney I hope she’s OK!
