Grey's Anatomy's hunky docs Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane will costar on the big-screen. The Hollywood Reporter and Variety have independently reported that Dempsey and Dane, respectively, have joined director Garry Marshall's ensemble comedy Valentine's Day. Dane will play a Brett Favre-esque quarterback, and Dempsey will play a cheating doctor in this collection of intersecting romances, alongside Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Jennifer Garner, Shirley MacLaine, Bradley Cooper, Ashton Kutcher, Topher Grace, Emma Roberts and Hector Elizondo.

Is this trying to be the new Love Actually? If so, GET RID OF JESSIA ALBA AND BIEL AND JULIA ROBERTS. Then we’ll be okay. Maybe add in Jennifer Anistorn or even Ginnifer Goodwin or Kate Bosworth. But the two Jessicas need OUT. And Julie Roberts? Soooooooooooooooo boring. (And Emma Roberts? What?)
Maybe throw some other people too like Jennifer Esposito or Eva Mendes or Diego Luna or Aisha Tyler. Geez. Even Love Actually wasn’t just a bunch of white British people.

Love Patrick Dempsey and, why not, Eric Dane. I can’t wait for it! Heigl sucks! She refused a role because she a DIVA!
You have no idea why Heigl didn’t want to do the movie. Her rep said it wasn’t money, and that there were other reasons. I can see many reasons right now why she didn’t want to be a part of it. Let’s see they just recently finished her new movie this week, and she has to go full swing in Ugly Truth promotion and Grey’s Anatomy Season 6 production. I really don’t think her schedule could work it out. Another incentive is who would want to do a movie with 2 of her other Grey’s castmembers. Two Grey castmembers is enough. A third one would be beyond extreme.
In the end I’m glad she didn’t do it knowing Dempsey and Dane are a part of it. She has a lot of movies in the pipeline and she really didn’t need to do this one. Seriously, Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane are playing McDreamy and McSteamy for this movie. I have no desire to see them play the same roles they have been playing years on Grey’s.
Seems like a ridiculous cast to me. Far too many names. I can completely see why Heigl said no aside from the fact that she may have felt the role was not right for her. Firstly, three Grey’s cast members would be crazy. Secondly, it is another romantic comedy and she has done 3 of those in a row. Thirdly it would have been a relatively small role (as will all of them in such a large cast). So instead of a small role in a movie she took the lead in a drama for Warner Bros. Good decision in my book.
I really don’t see how anyone can say Dempsey and Dane are playing McDreamy and McSteamy on this movie. Dempsey’s character sounds nothing at all like Derek Shepherd, and we know nothing about Dane’s character besides football player. So assuming it’s the same is just making a huge jump based on nothing.
I think this movie is perfect for both of them and an excellent carreer move that won’t take them away from the show (and racing in Patrick Dempsey’s case) too muuch. I can’t wait for it.
As for KH, I take what her people said at face value. Of course they’re not going to admit she backed out because they wouldn’t pay her more.
I know PD is wanting to flex his acting muscles and get away from the GA Dr image. But a Dr who’s not told his girlfriend he’s married, where have I heard that plotline before? I was half expecting PD to do and action movie, or something more daring. Still a job’s a job these days.
