Elizabeth Taylor says she won't be attending the public tribute to her longtime friend, Michael Jackson, because he wouldn't want her there, People reports. On her Twitter page, she says she's decided not to share her grief at the public ceremony: "How I feel is between us," she writes. "Not a public event." The 77-year-old actress says she was asked to speak at today's Staples Center memorial but "cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word." She says: "I will always love Michael from the depth of my being and nothing canseparate us."

Miss Taylor is a class act. Nothing good can come of this public spectacle other than for someone to make money on it. Grief and grieving should be a private thing.
Good for Elizabeth – Michael would understand totally. Grief is not to be shared with the masses.

Classy decision Ms. Taylor. It is exactly what she called it a bunch of ‘whoopla’.
This “event” is being held because the fans are demanding some sort of “memorial”. The news is reporting it like it’s an awards show.
I have always admired Ms. Taylor’s talent and respect her for not using her friendship with Michael as a publicity stunt. She is one of the very few who truly knew Michael as no one else did and is entitled to mourn, grieve, celebrate and remember Michael in her own way. She does not need to do any of those things publicly.
I m wondering if postive things about MJ then Liz taylor would attend and share good memories with MJ to the public?? So She said ” just between us” dont want to make any comments to public sounds like its not good news between MJ and Liz Taylor. They are attending to honor MJ ..WHY worry about public!!!
