The cover art for The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown's follow-up to The Da Vinci Code, has been revealed. The novel hits shelves Sept. 15, and follows protagonist Robert Langdon over a 12-hour period. "Dan's new novel is largely set in Washington, D.C., though it's a Washington few will recognize," editor Jason Kaufman said in an announcement. "As we would expect, he pulls back the veil — revealing an unseen world of mysticism, secretsocieties, and hidden locations, with a stunning twist that longpredates America." The UK cover art was also unveiled.

From what I see in this artwork and in the UK cover art, it looks like Dan Brown is leaning away from religious-themed mystery/thriller and is gearing this next one towards historical mystery (ala “National Treasure”). As someone who didn’t like “The DaVinci Code” (neither the book nor the movie), I think leaning away from the religious aspects might make the novel more…fun? We’ll see. I’m not holding my breath, though.
It’s a good thing Dan Brown is a brand-name author now, because that cover is nearly identical to at least twenty other books.
So this book brings Robert Langdon face-to-face with the Masons finally? after the Illuminati and Opus Dei/ Proiry of Sion? I’ll definitley pre-order this one.
Why is the UK cover better than the US cover?
It is National Treasure 3.
I like the U K cover better. WTF!!
um. the UK version is WAY better. i saw this cover, and thought “The Secret”.
It appears National Lampoon has already gotten their hands on the first few chapters.

ehhh…. okay cover. but that really doesn’t mean much. I’ll still read it anyways!
Gee, I wonder what my freudian art professor would make of it? Capital dome is looking a bit phallic … and the red seal above it? and the blood colored sky? and the parchment splitting like a pair of legs?
