Final tally for Michael Jackson memorial: 1.6 million people register!

The registration process for free tickets to Michael Jackson's public memorial service has closed. Now AEG, the company behind the memorial, is charged with the unenviable task of sorting through 1.6 million registers, "scrubbing" all entries to eliminate duplicates and those suspected to have been made by auto-entry, and randomly drawing 8,750 tickets. Fans selected will receive an email on July 5 after 11 am PST with instructions on how to obtain their two free tickets. Tickets will be distributed on July 6 at an off-site location. The service will be held on July 7 at the Staples Center or the live simulcast at the Nokia Theatre.

Generations from all over the world are coming together to say goodbye to Michael.
” Michael, In life, we weren’t always there for you… In death, our spirits are united in saying:
    “YOU ARE NOT ALONE”…
Your inspiration and passion through music and dance will live in our minds and hearts forever…
    We love you.

It’s sad when this man can recieve this much national attention and a soldier dies in Iraq and nobody gives a hoot. Shame on you all.

  • Skyla

Of course we care about a soldier who dies in Iraq. This is not about the soldiers. They get their respect and you know it. This is about a magnificent entertainer, with great faults, perhaps, but he truly had an amazing effect on the world. You cannot compare the brilliance and death of Michael Jackson to soldiers dying in Iraq. May MJ find the peace in Heaven he so needed here on Earth.

@Skyla…the difference is that people aren’t going to funerals of dead soldiers or policemen or firefighters while they’re willing to enter a lottery to be a part of this sideshow. Most of these people will have to take at least a day off from work. How many of these folks would take a day off from work to attend funerals of the others I mentioned or just to spend some quality time with their own children? I’m willing to bet none. Some really sad priorities some people have.

Why are you comparing Michael Jackson to the Solider dying in Iraq. The article is about Michael Jackson not about the Soldiers in Iraq. If there was a public memorial for the soldiers I’m sure lots of people will attend. Buffy Freak go comment on other news. instead of leaving stupid comments on an entertainment article.

MJ who was devoted to children throughout the world, how come in his last will he did not leave anything to the starving children in Dafur-the Sudan-Africa?
