Final tally for Michael Jackson memorial: 1.6 million people register!

Categories: Current Affairs

The registration process for free tickets to Michael Jackson's public memorial service has closed. Now AEG, the company behind the memorial, is charged with the unenviable task of sorting through 1.6 million registers, "scrubbing" all entries to eliminate duplicates and those suspected to have been made by auto-entry, and randomly drawing 8,750 tickets. Fans selected will receive an email on July 5 after 11 am PST with instructions on how to obtain their two free tickets. Tickets will be distributed on July 6 at an off-site location. The service will be held on July 7 at the Staples Center or the live simulcast at the Nokia Theatre.

Generations from all over the world are coming together to say goodbye to Michael.
” Michael, In life, we weren’t always there for you… In death, our spirits are united in saying:
    “YOU ARE NOT ALONE”…
Your inspiration and passion through music and dance will live in our minds and hearts forever…
    We love you.

One less high profile pedophle, on the streets this ones for you Macualay.

It’s sad when this man can recieve this much national attention and a soldier dies in Iraq and nobody gives a hoot. Shame on you all.

  • Skyla

Of course we care about a soldier who dies in Iraq. This is not about the soldiers. They get their respect and you know it. This is about a magnificent entertainer, with great faults, perhaps, but he truly had an amazing effect on the world. You cannot compare the brilliance and death of Michael Jackson to soldiers dying in Iraq. May MJ find the peace in Heaven he so needed here on Earth.

i well pray for you always you now wont suffer anymore for god well be with you now we love you

  • dorothy

my handcaped son misses you alot was a big fun of you and the photo he has of you in his room to pray for you before he sleeps

  • Buffy Freak

@Skyla…the difference is that people aren’t going to funerals of dead soldiers or policemen or firefighters while they’re willing to enter a lottery to be a part of this sideshow. Most of these people will have to take at least a day off from work. How many of these folks would take a day off from work to attend funerals of the others I mentioned or just to spend some quality time with their own children? I’m willing to bet none. Some really sad priorities some people have.

  • mark

Why are you comparing Michael Jackson to the Solider dying in Iraq. The article is about Michael Jackson not about the Soldiers in Iraq. If there was a public memorial for the soldiers I’m sure lots of people will attend. Buffy Freak go comment on other news. instead of leaving stupid comments on an entertainment article.

MJ who was devoted to children throughout the world, how come in his last will he did not leave anything to the starving children in Dafur-the Sudan-Africa?

Soldiers in Iraq do not donate millions of dollars to charity, nor inspire as many people. Rather, they are the pawns of a corrupt government and held on high only because of propaganda.

  • Buffy Freak

@Mark…I’m aware that this is an entertainment article. It’s so many of the rest of you mentally challenged folks treating the death of a drug-addicted, perhaps child molestor singer as if the President or Pope had died. The fact is I’m right about these nitwits who would take time off from work and travel across the country to go to MJ’s funeral wouldn’t go 1/2 mile to attend the funeral of somebody who served and protected them like a cop, fireman or soldier. Jackson was a talented man…stop making him out to be some sort of martyr or saint.

We recently released a Michael Jackson tribute cover of “The Way You Make Me Feel” on YouTube. It is located at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F166o1QO6Y8. We will miss you, Michael, forever the King of Pop.

  • Michael Jackson Fan

Buffy Freak, why do you care what Michael Jackson fans do. As a nurse, I can tell you if the drugs Michael used made him a drug addict, then so is 91 percent of the country. Get your facts straignt before spitting hate. AS for our soldiers and service people as well as myself (registered nurse), if you make the sight “THEY WILL COME”.

  • lovemichaelforever

    What?

  • Buffy Freak

And if you’re a nurse and can’t tell that he was a drug addict then I certainly hope to never find myself or anyone I care about anywhere near your hospital.
