Paula Abdul has been cast in an episode on the upcoming Lifetime dramedy Drop Dead Diva. Premiering July 12, the series follows a superficialmodel who dies and comes back in the curvier body of a smart lawyer (Broadway vet Brooke Elliott). Abdul’s episode, airing in September, will feature the American Idol star as a judge who hears a case about a store that refuses to carry plus-sized clothes. Other stars lined up for guest spots on the series include Liza Minnelli, Rosie O’Donnell, and Tim Gunn.

oh, that’s coool~~! Paul’s gone from Idol judge to court judge. this sounds cool, i like Lifetime. i saw some show on it w/ Brendan Fraser playing the gay family member that everyone “tolerated. Jennifer Beals was in it too playing his sister i think? something about genetic experiments or something? i kept getting interupted so i couldn’t finish it but it was good.

It’ll be interesting for us idollers to see her playing a ‘serious’ judge in a court. next step law and order? i wonder if she’ll be mean or all rude like the other TV judges. i can only imagine her being nice. i hope she plays it mean, just to see what it would be like

I’ve never seen Paula act before- I don’t think she has actually done a role, not like this- this should be a real treat- it’s a shame Liza has not acted much in years- she was so funny in Arthur- I can’t wait to see that one, too- Liza is so talented. I hope Paula doesn’t sing, though.
