AMC has picked up a 12-episode season of new political thriller Rubicon, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Rubicon, about a think-tank analyst who gets caught up in a global conspiracy, is AMC's third drama to go from pilot to series after Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

'Fringe' casts Meghan Markle as new FBI agent
Meghan Markle will recur as a new FBI agent on the upcoming second season of Fox's Fringe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her character is described as an attractive, brash and quick-witted junior FBI agent. Markle was recently seen in an arc on The CW's 90210.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck sued for plagiarism
Elisabeth Hasselbeck, cohost of ABC's The View, is being sued for plagiarizism by a Cape Cod cookbook author, according to Reuters. Susan Hassett claims she sent Hasselbeck a copy of her self-published book Living With Celiac Disease in 2008, only to find "word-for-word regurgitations" of her writing reprinted in Hasselbeck's best-selling diet book The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide. Hasselbeck did not return Reuters' calls for comment.
Dick Cheney writing his memoirs for 2011 publication
Dick Cheney is penning his memoirs, according to the Associated Press. "I'm persuaded there are a lot of interesting stories that ought to be told," the former Vice President is quoted as saying. The book is expected in spring 2011, a few months after George W. Bush publishes his memoirs. Financial terms have not been disclosed, but the AP says the deal is likely worth at least $2 million.
'You Light Up My Life' songwriter Joseph Brooks accused of rape
Joseph Brooks, the 71-year-old Oscar-winning songwriter and director behind the 1977 film You Light Up My Life was indicted today in New York City on charges of raping or sexually assaulting women who answered audition ads on Craigslist, the AP is reporting. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today.
Jon and Kate Gosselin divorce: TLC denies reports that the couple has been living apart
The Associated Press's report that Jon and Kate Gosselin have lived apart for two years is not true, according to TLC, the network that airs Jon & Kate Plus Eight. TLC denies the accusation, telling EW that the AP reporter misread the divorce papers. TMZ.com does a closer reading of the court documents here, explaining the confusion.
David Letterman on Ed McMahon: 'His voice was a signal that something great was about to happen'
David Letterman has issued a statement remembering late-night's original sidekick, Ed McMahon, who died today at 86:
“Ed McMahon’s voice at 11:30 was a signal that something great was about to happen. Ed’s introduction of Johnny was a classic broadcasting ritual — reassuring and exciting. Ed was a true broadcaster, and an integral part of Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show. We will miss him.”
'Teen Wolf' update, Jamie Foxx, Seth Meyers highlight MTV development slate
It was only a matter of time before Teen Wolf got a make over. MTV announced today that the cable network will reinvent the 1985 Michael J. Fox classic for today's MTV audience, and that it will combine horror elements and werewolf mythology, and feature a sweeping romance at its center. Jeff Davis, creator and executive producer of Criminal Minds is writing the show, with Prison Break's Marty Adelstein and Medium's Rene Echevarria executive producing.
The network also announced the development of new sketch comedy show starring Jamie Foxx and a half-hour animated show called The Awesomes from Saturday Night Live's head writer Seth Meyers and SNL head honcho Lorne Michaels. The Awesomes follows an unassuming superhero and his cohorts as they battle evil villains, the paparazzi, and the reputation for being a group of bumbling losers.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick welcome twin girls
Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick welcomed healthy twin girls via a surrogate mother at 3:58 p.m. yesterday in Ohio. “Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick weighed 5 lbs., 11 oz. and Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6 lbs.,” a rep for the actors said via a statement. “Both Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker’s side. The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon.”
Back in April, EW broke the news that the 44-year-old Sex and the City star and the beloved 47-year-old one-time truant, Ferris Bueller, were planning to expand their brood through a surrogate. The couple, who married in 1997, also have a 6-year-old son, James Wilkie.

'Jon & Kate Plus Eight' divorce episode posts record ratings
Monday night's massively hyped episode of Jon & Kate Plus Eight – in which the Gosselins announced their plans to divorce — attracted a whopping 10.6 million viewers, the largest audience ever for the TLC show. The special one-hour episode also achieved record ratings among women 18-49 (4.6 million) and persons 18-49 (6.5 million). It also exceeded the show's season debut on Memorial Day, which lured 9.8 million watchers. Jon & Kate is in its fifth season.
After a retrospective of the Gosselins' 10 years of marriage airs on June 29, the show will go on hiatus until Aug. 3 to give the family "some time off to regroup," says a TLC spokeswoman, who added that a "modified" schedule will be in place to support the family's transition. The cable network ordered a total of 40 episodes this season.
