Oleanna, David Mamet's mid-'90s dissection of collegiate political correctness, will make its belated Broadway debut this fall in a production starring Bill Pullman as a university professor and Julia Stiles as his initially meek but increasingly emboldened student. Director Doug Hughes' production, which opened this month at Los Angeles' Mark Taper Forum to mostly favorable reviews (see EW's own review), will begin previews on Sept. 29 at the Golden Theatre for an Oct. 11 opening.

I saw it in LA, and the performances were good, but it’s really a weak play! One character undergoes an unexplained (and unbelievable) personality change between one act and the next…I was really wondering if Act II was supposed to take place in a parallel universe or something (I’m not joking.)
Hrm, so she’s at this again? I saw Julia Stiles play this role opposite Aaron Eckhart in London a few years back. His take on the role was really refreshing and modern; hers, not so much. I’d prefer seeing someone with more range tackle the role – Anne Hathaway, for example.
Pullman does have quite a bit of stage experience, so he’d be the reason to see this – not her. Still wish I’d seen him in “The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?”. Ah well.
