Evan Rachel Wood, now starring in Woody Allen's Whatever Works, and Alan Cumming will star in the Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, which is due to begin preview performances Feb. 25, 2010 for an opening later that spring. Wood will make her Broadway debut as Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker's girlfriend, while Cumming (a Tony winner for the 1998 revival of Cabaret) plays the show's chief villain, Norman Osborn, a.k.a. Green Goblin. The role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man has yet to be cast. Julie Taymor, the Tony-winning director of The Lion King, has been overseeing the production, whose budget has reportedly topped $40 million. The show features music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge. Taymor has worked with both stars before: Wood starred in the director's Beatles-inspired movie Across the Universe, while Cumming appeared in two of Taymor's Shakespeare-based films, Titus and the upcoming The Tempest.
“Being on Broadway has been my dream since I knew how to dream," Wood told EW.com earlier this year. "I am excited but so nervous." The actress noted that she had performed in a workshop of the musical with her Across the Universe costar Jim Sturgess. "We are trying to convince him to play Peter. He has a great voice and we are already comfortable together and Julie [Taymor] likes him, but it is a huge time commitment to do Broadway." (Additional reporting by Carrie Bell)

I think Evan Rachel Wood will be great for the part of Mary Jane. I’m interested to see how Alan Cumming plays the Green Goblin.
