Though it may be weeks before toxicology results are available, indications that Michael Jackson, who died June 25 at the age of 50 of sudden cardiac arrest, was dependent on drugs and alcohol are coming to light. A source tells People that family members attempted an intervention in Las Vegas in 2006, when they believed he was addicted to prescription drugs: "Michael got p—ed off. He said he wasn't on drugs. But they didn't believe him," the source says. A second source alleges Jackson was known to consume alcohol, straight morphine, Demerol, Oxycontin, Valium, and Xanax.
Meanwhile, the AP reports that in 2007 Jackson settled a lawsuit with a Beverly Hills pharmacy that claimed he owed than $100,000 for prescription drugs ordered over a two-year period. Police are now said to be searching for a doctor they hope will have information about Jackson's medications.
Jackson family lawyer Brian Oxman wasted no time in bringing Jackson's alleged addictions to the attention of the media. Speaking to CBS News' Harry Smith the night of Jackson's death, Oxman stressed that, like everyone, he would have to wait for the autopsy and toxicology results, but said, "I have warned that one day Michael Jackson would wake up dead, and that I would not be silent if that was the case, because of the misuse of medications. I have made that statement to family members and I told them I would not be still."
Liza Minnelli, who phoned The Early Show Friday morning from Paris to remember her friend as a curious soul who delighted in dinners with Gregory Peck, Fred Astaire, and Gene Kelly, and knew every word to every song in her father Vincent Minnelli's films, is also bracing for the results: "I'm sure when the autopsy comes, all hell's going to break loose," she told Smith. "So, thank God we're celebrating him now."

It wouldn’t surprise me, although it still is kind of a sad way to go out Elvis style. But the lawyer was concerned that Jackson would “wake up dead”? Sounds like an oxymoron, glad he doesn’t represent me.

I think you would have to be naive to think that he wasn’t using drugs. It’s being reported he was on seven different perscription drugs and unfortuantely he died the same way Elvis and Anna Nicole did.
i would just like to know why everyone thinks it is so facinating to see MJ laying on a slab dead with his body ripped open! Please Let the family greive in peace. This is a private matter, even though he was king of pup, when u lose someone, your heart is broken. Rumors get spread and then the truth comes out. Stop and Think. Michael Lived a life he chose to live. Give him a break. When its your family member laying there <<< would you want their body to be displayed for all to see. NO I dont think so.. aybe the law needs to create a new kind of interim conservertorship or order of protection that would kick in for clebrities with prescription medication addictions who are able to hire personal physicians and wield too much power over them. With court supervision, overdoses would have to be less likely. Family members should be able to apply to court for just such an order.

well I think it’s wrong that poeple can say something like this when they do not know what he(Mr.Jackson) died from when the test have not came back yet and Im not a big fan.I like him better when it was the jackson five. This comment is going to cause trouble, but I’m going to write it anyway. Why did Michael get a “white” surrogate for his children? Why not a black surrogate, and that way the children would like they’re part of the race. Now with him dead the estate will pass to his children. And the childr. will be raised by the black family, but they are not “black.” Do you honestly think that when they’re adults they will identify w/ black race? I don’t think so.
