Elisabeth Hasselbeck, cohost of ABC's The View, is being sued for plagiarizism by a Cape Cod cookbook author, according to Reuters. Susan Hassett claims she sent Hasselbeck a copy of her self-published book Living With Celiac Disease in 2008, only to find "word-for-word regurgitations" of her writing reprinted in Hasselbeck's best-selling diet book The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide. Hasselbeck did not return Reuters' calls for comment.

This is hardly surprising; Elisabeth previously represented herself as America’s sweetheart on Survivor: Australian Outback before we all knew what she was really like! Had I know back then, I would have been rooting for Jeri Manthey!
Isn’t this similar to what happened with Jerry Seinfeld’s wife? She published a cookbook for kids that “borrowed” liberally from another woman’s book. The “little” people lose out; the already-rich people “borrow” ideas. Go figure!

If you look at the letter posted online, the similarities cannot be anything BUT plagiarism. Some of the information could be considered run of the mill for a book like this, but the fact that Hasselback received the first book via CERTIFIED mail over a year ago and used some of the exact phrasing- NOT normally used in a book like this is so damning. If i were on a jury I would find for the plantiff here in a heartbeat with only seeing whats been posted online, you don’t need anything else.

Hasselbeck’s anonymous ghost writer is also a defendant in the suit. That explains how she could “author” a book. Still, it doesn’t answer the bigger question… who would take medical advice from Elisabeth Hasselbeck?
