While news had spread earlier today that TLC stars Jon and Kate Gosselin filed for divorce, the estranged couple made their separation official on tonight's episode of Jon & Kate Plus Eight. After 10 years of marriage, the two will raise their children separately (Kate will live in their Pennsylvania home, while Jon has reportedly been house hunting in New York City). While neither party said the word "divorce" during the episode, the show cutaway to the news that the marriage of Jon and Kate Gosselin had been "dissolved" as of today. As for how the split might have an impact on her children, Kate said, "I know it's going to be hard for them and it's not what I wanted for them," but added, "We'll find happiness in this somewhere." Jon agreed that the split was necessary for the sake of the children, noting, "It's not good for us to be arguing in front of the kids." The show is slated for 40 episodes this season and, according to Jon and Kate, it will continue for the duration of the season, but with both parents doing activities separately.

I’ve never seen this show, but I wonder what Dr. Laura Schlessinger would say to two people who divorce after having 8 children.
Divorce is sad, but on the bright side, I guess the Octamom missed her chance to get a reality show about a single mom of 8. Do we really need two of them?

I feel bad for the kids. its a shame that their parents got blinded by the fame.

This is really sad… It’s even sadder that they are doing it for the kids. Studies show that divorce is much worse for kids than arguing parents.

Loved their show for years, but watched as Kate repeatedly put Jon down on everything. She yelled & screamed at him in stores & rolled her eyes when he said anything. She thinks she is smarter than he is, but he is very smart on a lot of things!

Why did they work so hard to bring these beautiful children into the world if they aren’t willing to work hard to keep the family together? Their selfishness is overwhelming. Jon and Kate – Stop thinking about yourselves and start thinking about the children! Money and fame are not worth the cost of a broken family. Get off the air and start working on your relationship. Your primary responsibility is raising your children in a loving environment, not entertaining America. The executives at TLC are equally despicable for believing that ratings are worth more than the emotional health of 8 children. We all need to stop watching so the ratings will go down.

This mother is a fame seeking hack…..Yea, he may have cheated, but if you look at this hags treatment of him and her ’set up’ for t.v. treatment of the kids…she checked out a long time ago, so he was not doing anything that any separated man wouldn’t do.
I get that having this show was a necessity in the sense that it took a great deal to raise 8 kids. But, I don’t think being greedy is needed.
For Goodness sake, even Nichole Richie and Donald trump…etc (fame seeking wankers) had enough sense to NOT make their kids the center of their financial gain.

Oh my Gawd. . its all about the DRAMA with Kate, world’s #1 Drama Queen. I watched, and this woman truly thinks of herself as a victim and its all Jon’s fault. It takes two, but seriously, did they ever try marriage counseling? That whole playhouse episode was awful – she calls him on a cell phone when he is in the yard? Yeah, its a big yard, but come on! TLC needs to take this show off and cut off funds for these two. They haven’t even tried to salvage their marriage but they both go on and on and ON about doing what is right for the kids. Ugh, its stomach churning. The worst part? Kate wanting kleenex so her makeup wouldn’t run. Talk about “true colors”.

I’m very sad for the kids…and it makes me wonder why a couple that were obviously in a fragile relationship would go to such lengths to conceive so many babies.
