SONNY AND CHER TO PART COMPANY
NEW YORK (AP) Sonny and Cher have decided not to continue their CBS television show, and CBS says it doesn’t mind.
“I understand they have high hopes of becoming major recording artists again,” said CBS-TV President Robert Wussler on Thursday.
He added that CBS was agreeable to ending the show because of its “circulation performance.”
The two performers were husband and wife when they first began a comedy-variety hour on CBS. But when their marriage broke-up, so did the team. Cher continued on CBS and Sonny had a short-lived run on ABC. Then they were reunited – as performers, not spouses,– on CBS
