'Nip/Tuck' quietly finishes shooting; series finale likely to air in 2011

Categories: Television

FX's graphic plastic surgery drama Nip/Tuck filmed its final (and, coincidentally, its 100th) episode on June 12, but the episode most likely won't air until sometime in 2011. FX first announced that the show would end in 2011 at last year's summer press tour. "It's sad because it feels incomplete," script supervisor Diana Valentine said to the LA Times.

The series, created by Ryan Murphy (Glee) and starring Julian McMahon and Dylan Walsh, won the 2005 Golden Globe for Best Drama Series and ran for five seasons. The final episode will reportedly feature a final dinner scene involving most of the show's major characters.

Do you think you could have labeled this tidbit as a possible spoiler? I didn’t think I was going to read about a possible scene in this article!

Nip/Tuck was great Seasons 1-3. But it jumped the shark at the end of Season 4 went it went to LA! Haven’t watched it since. Has anyone else?

Of course, it’s all subjective, but my husband and I absolutely LOVED this show. It was off the hook and different than everything else out there. It was definitely tongue in cheek; you never saw Nip/Tuck take itself too seriously and it didn’t expect its audience to either. It wasn’t afraid to take chances with its storylines. We will be sorry when it comes to and end. Let the great characters of Christian and Sean (brought to life by two incredibly versatile actors) live on in our memories….

I wish EW would do a story about TV production related to lead time. Especially with some of the cable series that have “split-seasons.” But even for cable, an almost two-year lead time seems excessive. Odds are at least some of the cast will have moved on to other shows.
