In an interview with Barbara Walters for 20/20, Ryan O'Neal said that he and longtime partner Farrah Fawcett plan to marry. He also says that the very ill Fawcett is "fighting for her life" and that they will exchange vows whenever she's able.

Don’t rush into anything Ryan. Geesh. I guess I don’t understand the point of a piece of paper at this point. They’ve already lived the better or worse stuff, had a child together etc.
Maybe Farrah’s the one who never wanted to get married…been there, done that. He’s asked her to marry him several times over the years and she always refused…it became a running joke with them. I think it’s sweet that she has finally agreed. My thoughts and prayers are with Farrah as she continues her brave battle.
I get the impression HE is milking her illness for his own shot at another 15-minutes of fame. I hope it’s only because he is beside himself with worry and grief that he is doing all this, but trotting out for interviews and claiming they will be married when she is strong enough smacks of self-promotion.
As the spouse, he will have more rights and say over her assets, estate and burial. Although she has probably already made out a will. Good move on his part.

There is no benefit for her at this point of getting married. It would clearly only benefit the living i.e. Ryan. Mr. O’Neal, please, just focus on her living her last few days in peace and dignity. She has a loving heart and deserves that.
Mr O’Neal ~ please let Farrah enjoy the last few days of her life in peace. There is no benefit to her in getting married. Any financial gain you may get will be lost in terms of how people judge and trust you. Now do the right thing.
