Chris Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault today in Los Angeles in a deal with prosecutors. Brown was sentenced to probation and community service for beating then-girlfriend Rihanna in a February incident. He must also stay 50 yards away from Rihanna unless the two are present at the same event, in which case he must stay 10 yards away from her, and he is forbidden from contacting her in any way. The deal includes 180 days of community service such as trash removal in Virginia (where Brown resides), along with fiveyears of supervised probation and a court-mandated 52-week domestic violencecounseling program. (The singer had faced up to four years in prison if convicted.)
Rihanna was not present at the hearing until Brown left the courtroom, at which point she arrived and was given a copy of the judge's stay-away order for Brown. She made no statement. Brown will be formally sentenced on Aug. 5. (Additional reporting by John Young)

No jail time for battering his girlfriend. Pathetic.

Did we really expect anything different? All you have to do anymore is Plea Bargain down
What does ‘hard labour’ entail? Picking up garbage? I guess for a celeb who has servants this might seem ‘hard’ but I think he should be digging up cement road with a pickax, personally.
I think he waited until today because he didn’t beleive she’d actually testify, that people could talk her out of it or she’d stay loyal and say nothing, she forgets, etc. I was happy to share with my daughter (who has been following the case) that he had to admit he lied and did in fact almost kill her, and can never deny it again, and that he’s being punished. I just hope he doesn’t get off early ‘for good behaviour’.
So Chris (I never touched that girl) Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault? I hope he understands that the next time he beats up a woman he’ll get far more than a little slap on the wrist.
Un-fricking-believable! I guess we shouldn’t be surprised by this but I don’t see where the punishment is in this sentence. He’s going to pick up garbage for 6 months? And get permission to travel before he goes out to perform? I wonder how Rihanna feels about this – or was she consulted about the judgment?
They should have put him in jail and throw away the key!
What a son of a b*tch
If it was me, I would be in jail for years…
They should have locked up the scumbag. A complete waste of air.
Travesty of justice. The man is pure scum and should be locked away with his ilk. I guess he makes certain people a LOT of money though and we couldn’t have them losing their golden goose to the justice system. That would never do.
Obviously money talks. No respect in this POS legal community we live in. If you have the bucks you get off; if not you do the time. Life is a beach and then you die……so how much did the lawyers make on this deal……????
I can’t believe he isn’t getting even a paltry few months or half a year of jail time, for a felony assault. Unbelievable.
Why a plea bargain ? What would have Rihanna said or what evidences would have been presented ? Obviously, Mr. Brown didnt want people (and his fans..) to hear that.
Hardly surprising. Proof again, that your completley responsible for actions and will pay the consequences, unless your a celebrity.
She obviously initiated the fight, and I’m sure the DA knew it, which is probably why they took the plea without jail time. He is only 19, and has his whole life ahead of him. he should learn how to control his temper in the future, and avoid crazy women. I hope Andrew Bynum is taking note too. He should run away from Rihanna for the sake of his career.
all you guys trippin about how little time he got, lets not forget that there is a legal process going on here. the DA probably didnt have enough evidence to convict on that charge as he would be relying on one person’s word against another and some pictures. at the same time chris brown knew that the longer this drags out the worse it makes him look. so he cops a plea to avoid the scrutiny and the DA takes it to get a conviction that was far from a slam dunk. this is who the legal system works. doesnt mean he didnt do it or isnt an a*s but it should surprise no one that a guy with no record in this type of case just got probation and community service.
