Twilight star Robert Pattinson, 23, was hit by a taxi cab in New York City Thursday afternoon as he tried to escape a crowd of fans, People.com reports. The actor is in Manhattan filming the movie Remember Me, where he has been hounded by overzealous fans eager to get a look at him. On Thursday he reportedly attempted to run across the street near the Strand bookstore and was clipped on his hip by a cab. The driver reportedly stopped on impact. Pattinson walked away from the scene and did not appear to be seriously hurt. The actor recently hired his own security team, People.com reports, to supplant the security provided by the film's production company, Summit Entertainment. Summit has since released a statement downplaying the incident and declaring Pattinson's fans innocent in the matter. "Rob Pattinson is fine, the reports are exaggerated, and it was not caused by fans," that statement said. "Production continues."

bethofspring – what gives “fans” the right to mob an actor while he’s working. No one has the right to put there hands on someone with out their permission. He was totally mobbed on Monday by so called “fans”. He smiled and was polite during it. I don’t think most actors would have been so polite.
Also the studio has said fans weren’t involved at all in the cab incident. His idiot secutity guards rushing him across the street walked him right in front of a cab.

Y’know what..this is actually pretty vile.So here is a young guy that is working,doing a job,earning money..ok so its a little more glam than say..being a dentist or something but its still his job! Fans are meant to be a “perk” and up until now the guy has been more than accomodating to the crazies that follow him,touch him and scream at him (do u think that makes u look attractive or even remotely appealing?)Anyhoo,he wasnt hurt THIS TIME…its still disgusting that his health and saftey was even compromised in the first instance!

And besides sooner or later you may find your own picture posted on every news media label as an mental case and in court. I’m sure someone has already said what I’m about to but I wanted to add my 2 cents anyways. I myself am a Rob fan but I wouldn’t chase after him to mob him like some of these obsessed crazed fans. People need to realize these celebs are people too and yes they put pants on just like the rest of us and need their space and sometimes don’t want to be bothered all the time which I can understand. Another thing that I’ve noticed is many of these fans are taking the whole edward character too far. Robert plays the character edward. Which means Edward is not a real person!! *REALITY CHECK GIRLS* EDWARD CULLEN IS A FICTIONAL CHARACTER! Now I know I have dreamed of Edward kissing me and wishing there really was an edward out there but its not true. So obsessed fans try to remember not to hurt the hot celebs because you’re not the only one who adores them.
