Bret Michaels, who suffered a fractured nose and a split lip while performing at June 7's Tony Awards, will not be taking legal action over the descending piece of stage decoration that caused his injuries and made him the talk of the telecast. "I want to make very clear to everybody that — first and foremost — I was honored to be asked to be at the Tonys. I'd never done it before and in all my life it's not something I thought I'd be on. I was really excited," he tells People. "There's no lawsuit. I'm not doing any of that. I'm taking the high road."

High road??? No high road to take, my friend. It was his own fault. I’ve seen a video of the rehearsal for the opening number on YouTube and in that rehearsal, Mr. Brett clearly got out of the way in time for the set piece. He has no one to blame but himself for the injuries. So stop playing the victim!
Considering his injury is worth 1.95, I think that is a good choice.
Merely implying that there is anything to sue over is taking a low, low road.
Good for him! I wish more people would follow in his steps. Our legal system is so flooded with lame cases. I just gained some flashback 80’s respect for Bret. Go boy!
i bet if he didn’t have money he’d sue.
That was rather admirable of him, considering the organizers of the Tony’s didnt even make a public apology to him, or show any concern for his well being.

SUE??? He was a performer who missed his mark, who can he possibly sue! If anything it just shows Brett may need some more practice and rehearsel before he is ready for Broadway!
Bret missed his mark, period. I watched it several times, and he was delayed because he was soaking in the applause. So, there should definitely be no lawsuit, and he needs to shut up about it as if it makes him a saint. As for a public apology – again, the Tonys had nothing to apologize for. He went to rehearsal, he knew what he had to do, the production number like that doesn’t just STOP because someone wants to wave to his fans. As for showing concern for his well-being, that is something no blogger here can know anything about. You have no clue what anyone said to him behind stage, etc.
Bret missed his mark, period. I watched it several times and it was obvious that everyone else moved out of the way, while Bret continued to soak in the applause. There is nothing to sue about, and he needs to shut up about it as if he were being a saint or something. As for a public apology, the Tonys did nothing wrong! He went to rehearsal, he knew what he had to do, the scenery only hit the person who like a dummy stood there waving at his fans. As for showing concern towards him, no blogger here know what was or wasn’t said to him or done for him backstage that night. Give it a rest already.
First off, he was talking to People magazine, so the reporter probably asked if he was going to sue, they just didn’t post the question here on EW. Stop acting like Brett was just trying to draw sympathy to himself, because that’s not the way his comments even remotely seem to read. (Btw, I think Brett equals the near lowest common denominator of current human civilization, below him are the prostitutes that come on his show, followed by Heider and Spencer Pratt.) Secondly, if there was any thought of the possibility of anyone on the stage getting hurt at any time it should have been disclosed and a contract stating that legal action cannot be taken needs to be signed. If the organization did not take the correct legal precautions than Brett would have every right in the world. Thirdly, if no form was signed, in this day and age the fact that he’s not suing is commendable. Let’s be honest, he doesn’t have that much money anymore if he’s still doing VH-1 crap.
i guess the diabetic retinopathy is affecting his vision and he didnt see the HUGE prop looming towards him. someone get him a seeing eye dog??
I have a question, it said Bret was involved with his babies mother. Is he still in that relationship and all his shows have just been a hoax? I really want someone to give the HONEST answer…..
