Monday's episode of TLC's Jon & Kate Plus Eight – which featured a special visit to American Chopper – was seen by 2.9 million viewers, down 31 percent from last week, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It was also way down from the show's fifth-season premiere, which attracted a staggering 9.8 million viewers on May 25. The reality program typically averaged 2.9 million viewers during its fourth season.

My 12 year old got me hooked before the most current season. At this point,it just feels sad to be watching the demise of a marriage. The whold concept was Jon & Kate…plus eight…The show just doesn’t have the same spirit and both my daughter and I are no longer watching. The kids were always the reason to watch, now it’s hard to focus on them when the spotlight is on the awkwardness between their parents.
So its back to its regular viewers. That is fine.
Good, I can’t believe people still watch that train wreck. It sounds like it is more and more the Kate Show anyway, loud and obnoxious.
Looks like the people are getting tired of this drama. TLC needs to take a good look at these numbers. People want to see the kids…not the parents.

I’ve got them DVR’d but haven’t watched them yet. It makes me sad so I’m not excited about watching them. Also don’t like all the cross promoting they are doing. On a more positive note, parents in Atlanta are talking about the Top 10 Cheap Father’s Day gifts. (ajc.com/momania)
In the end, I think the kids would have been better off with regular (still married) working parents than what they’re going to end up with~divorced, but wealthy bitter rivals.
I think you’re assuming that they would have stayed together had there been no show. There’s no proof of that, and even they said that parents of multiples have a higher rate of divorce than normal. Jon and Kate’s problems go deeper than the show alone, although it’s probaby true that fame and fortune amplified their problems.
The ratings only went up because of the drama…now the real fans are watching the show again and will continue watching until some new scandal happens.

I don’t feel sorry for either of these two; they deserve everything that’s come to them. I do, however, feel sorry for those poor kids being raised by shameless fame-whores. This is exactly why people should be forced to get a permit before having kids.
The show is now a promo for other TLC shows and commercials.

This show used to be about a typical family trying to survive with a family of eight. Now they are millionares and they aren’t typical anymore. After the “Chopper” episode, and hearing Jon wasn’t around for their 10th Anniv., I’m done. Finish, will not watch this show again.
Of course the ratings dropped! Rather than focus on the reality of Jon and Kate breaking up, the creators of the show are attempting to make us believe that everything is fine in J&K land. Obviously we all know that there is a lot going on behind the scenes, if the focus was on their relationship problems the ratings would be through the roof. This week’s episode was a 30 minute sleeping pill.
Why am I not surprised? Of course ratings are dropping, because people are wising to the fact that the show is no longer about FAMILY, it’s about GREED, and MONEY, and ARRIGANCE. Kate abusing Jon and all that jazz. It’s depressing.
the ratings are dropping because we are not seeing the truth..i don’t think kate abuses john…we see only what the editors want us to see…but the truth is no one is dealing with the truth of their relationship and we are tired of being played. the show is not focused on the kids anymore. it’s about jon yearning to have boy toys and kate loving nails and hair and tans. this is why the ratings are dropping.
I love the show and will continue to watch it as long as it’s on. Kate is a hard worked and she would be well served in ditching Jon and moving on her way. He’s dead weight anyway and in 10 years he’ll realize just how stupid he was. Shoot, I’d give him 6 months of “freedom” and he’ll be bumming.
Kate has said before she & the fans want to film these kids until they are 18. The show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
I wish the show would go back to being about the family instead of editing at all of the good. I truly believe the editor’s are only showing the bad now they thought it would draw more people in they tried it and it has driven people away and added stress to this already stressful marriage. I love this show and do not want to see it end.

I had been an avid watcher of this show since it aired- but the charm of this family- being “normal” paying bills, etc. Is GONE. I don’t want to watch this family continue to be given hand outs and enjoy their expensive life and HUGE house. Not to mention that what is going on with Jon and Kate is awful. They both need to “put their children first” and get out of their marriage. They are doing NO GOOD for those children by “staying together” but not “being together”. I don’t see why anyone would enjoy watching a train wreck happen. I am not supporting it anymore and I am guessing that eventually this show will end up being cancelled.
So its actually just back to its normal ratings after the drive by watchers who only tuned in for the media hype stop watching. If anything it shows how the American public can be lead like puppets to watch shows they never would watch cause these people where getting media attention.
I agree with Brianna.I used to watch it because the kids would crack me up. I though that they were hilariuos. Now, I’m noticing that the younger kids are no longer the focus of the show, and the twins were bearly seen. I really hope that Jon and Kate are putting away money for college, because I see this ship sinking fast!!!

Hey Nicole, there is nothing wrong with spanking your children. Its called discipline. Kate is just an idiot for doing it out in the open for the p-people to see.
My desire and prayer for Jon and kate is that they forgive each other,recommit to God and children the vows they made 10 years ago and even just last year. It is the best for all of them! Nothing is impossible w/ God.Go to private counseling please. They really used to love each other.
I think I;ll give up on Jon and Kate. The show has changed to a cute family show to a media farce. I can’t support a couple who are trying to deceive the world for the money only.
