Universal, home of Hollywood monsters like Frankenstein and the Wolf Man, is in new talks to resurrect James Whale's 1935 classic, Bride of Frankenstein. According to Riskybusinessblog.com, the studio and Imagine Entertainment are negotiating with writer/director Neil Burger (The Illusionist) and writer Dirk Wittenborn (The Lucky Ones). It's unclear at this time whether the project would be contemporary or nostalgically gothic.

Hey, it will have to be better than the Sting/Jennifer Beals remake back in the Eighties.
Won’t it>
This film is an undisputed classic, not to mention one of the best ever made.
So why would you screw with it, you Hollywood hacks, why, why, why?
This would be a huge, huge mistake. Leave it alone.
I agree with Carlitos. The movie is a classic and Hollywood would only muck up a remake and, certainly, they are incapable of improving on (or equalling) the quality of the original. The glut of remakes only reinforces the fact that what Hollywood turns out is a “product” not much different than what McDonald’s or Burger King produce.
Fast food restaurants have to keep making burgers and Hollywood has to keep making movies… whether they are good or not. And every now and then they will add a piece of cheese to a burger, turn it upside down and advertise it as a “new” product. If only they had a clue that there is a vast, untapped, library of proven classic fantasy and science fiction literature available to them and they don’t have to keep selling us a similar product in a new wrapper. Especially when the original was so much fresher.
My GOD… look what they did to “The Day the Earth Stood Still”!!
Chappel you are so correct in your observation of remakes. I wondered for year’s when they would do a remake of ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ and they finally did and it was a disaster. So unless you can get Boris Karloff back as the monster don’t even think of another HORRENDOUS remake!!!
