Sarah Palin accepts David Letterman's apology

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has released a statement accepting David Letterman's apology for telling what he called a "coarse joke" about Palin's daughter last week, a joke that has prompted an onslaught of public debate and outraged appearances by the former vice presidential candidate. After Letterman used a large chunk of his Monday night show for a public apology, Palin responded, according to ABC News: "Of course it's accepted on behalf of young women, like my daughters, who hope men who 'joke' about public displays of sexual exploitation ofgirls will soon evolve. Letterman certainly has the right to 'joke' aboutwhatever he wants to, and thankfully we have the right to express ourreaction. And this is all thanks to our U.S. military women and menputting their lives on the line for us to secure America's right tofree speech — in this case, may that right be used to promote equalityand respect."

At last…our long national nightmare is over. Perhaps now we can focus on something important like Al Roker verbally attacking Heidi and Spencer.

GOOD! Now can we move on please?

  • mario

she exactly like hasselbeck on The View, going on tangents to express one’s opinion about a topic that has nothing to do with the situation
yeah, god bless america because of canada’s maple syrup… like WTF?

D’ya think Palin can now extend the same courtesy to rape victims in Wasilla so that they don’t have to pay for their own rape kits?

  • Jim

really, this has nothing to do with the military. but if it puts an end to this, i don’t care what she says.

  • The Other Sarah

Well, I hope you “evolve” too, Sarah. Enough to outgrow your inner NARCISSIST and realize that a pretty face and nice legs aren’t enough for pretty much anything.

  • Chazz

Rock on, Rock Golf. Well said – and she has the nerve to talk about rape when she won’t provide her own constituents with a rape kit. I hope she and her TRailer Trash family will now go away, but you Americans seem to just love her.

I thought the joke wasn’t funny but I thought only of the daughter who is a real life out-of-wedlock mother — as did apparently Letterman. I don’t like Letterman. He is neither funny or smart enough to warrant my attention. But when candidate Palin paraded her “family-values” daughter as she did, she placed the poor child in the same league as Paris and the rest of that “I’m too cool to be hypocritical” crowd. And what comes of that, comes. Sad.

Chazz and Rock Golf: What you are referring to is a dispute that occurred whan Palin was Mayor of Wasilla. The state would not pay for rape kits and the position of the Wasilla police was that it shoudl be paid for by the state rather than the local police. Palin supported that position. No woman was ever denied a rape kit in Wasilla, it was simply a state versus local budget matter. Please don’t repeat such misinformation, you are as bad as the Obama birthers.

    LMAO, you’re so right!!

Good, now I can sleep at night.

  • Beth

Does this mean this tiresome topic is finally done and Palin can crawl back in her hole again???

  • Nat

Uh-huh, free speech. Is that why she walked into her local library to ask how she could get certain books removed? She’s such a hypocrite.

  • Adam

Well it’s over! Go home to Alaska and wait until you find another thing to jump on to get attention.

I hope Sarah Palin gets a life, and a sense of humor. She has milked this for a million votes, just as the public was getting a deserved break from her lipstick-covered personality.
